Since it is the off-season i thought that it would be good for us to discuss what are the greatest performances ever by a St Kilda in a game.

I will start with Robert Harvey 2005 QF v Adelaide. We were at a bogey ground and facing a good crows unit but it was not the young saints who lead the way but a 34 year old Robert Harvey who was best on ground,

2010 GF1 Lenny Hayes v Collingwood. We were down and out at half time but we were somewhat still in touch due to this man and Goddard. He was immense during the game by winning the Norm Smith medal and solidifying his greatness.

There was a game in the eighties against the Tiges at Moorabbin, we had lost about 16 games straight and got up by a kick.
The social club went off like we had won the flag.
They played 10 different versions of OH WHEN THE SAINTS

Riewoldt qualifying final vs Collingwood 09.

There's a YouTube video of it, it really is something else.

I was living in qld at the time, and my best mate who goes for the pies was at the game and was sitting right in front of the last quarter goal. I received a text from him that went something like "I take it all back, he's phenomenal"

Ill never get tired of watching Lenny slam Dayne Swan into the ground here.
Brilliant tackle.

For a more new performance, watching Jack Steven in the final quarter vs Port this year was like watching a man possessed by the footy gods. Everything he did just blew everyone else out of the way and got him 100sc points for that final quarter alone.
As disappointing as the loss was, seeing the fight in the team coming back from that deficit was amazing to watch in person.

- 2010 GF1 Lenny kicking the goal from outside 50, well outside his range
- 2010 GF1 Goddard mark and goal - was standing on my seat going nuts after that, thought the premiership was ours
- 2009 Preliminary Final Roo kicking the goal to win us the game and put us in the Grand Final
- 2005 Milne kicking 11 at Etihad against the Lions in the last game of the season in a 139 point win
- 2005 Robert Harvey winning the final for us in Adelaide
- early 90's Plugger kicking 15 against the Swans - he was unstoppable

I became a die hard Saints fan after watching Roo in the '09 PF. The shot of him throwing his cup away and arms in the air as the siren sounded is iconic for mine.

Another great moment for mine (I think his '10 GF 1 performance was underrated) was his mark on defensive 50 that led to the Lenny Hayes/Milne bounce point to tie the game. Arguably the biggest moment of the game. That mark doesn't get taken... Who knows what happens.

The best game I saw Jason Gram play for St Kilda was when we bitch slapped Richmond by 100+ at the MCG one day. Gehrig got all the plaudits for kicking 9 goals, but Jason had 2 of the first 3 and ended up with (I think) 5 for the day.

Then there was Nicky and his jumper lifting at Vic Park. That moment is burned into my heart and mind forever!

I think it was Round 7, Sunday, 8th May 1994

T.Lockett 11 goals, a bunch of which came in the last quarter
Pretty well worst performance and best performance all rolled into one, as I believe this is the same day he broke Caven's jaw (could be wrong there, but I was definitely at this particular game)

Pretty sure I was at the game he kicked 15 or so in 92. What a monster player he was

How 20 years slips by so quickly :p

You're not wrong!

3 goals in 3 minutes to win the game by a point.

Some great goals kicked by other players too :

I remember Riewoldt kicking 9 goals against Melbourne back in 2002 or 2003, we lost by about 40 points.

But this young number 1 draft pick announced himself. We were hardly getting the ball down there, but this hard working athletic forward wasn't going to be beaten.

Still the most he has ever kicked, as he was played really close to goal in that game compared to the tank of a CHF he became.

When that man retires I won't know what to do with myself!

From a team performance point of view, I find it hard to go past the 1997 prelim v Nth Melbourne

I must remind the missus that for Xmas she could do a lot worse than buy that game for me on DVD :D
I might then find out that my memory of the game is a lot better than the reality

Hard to go past Nicky Winmar's BOG performance in the 1996 Ansett Cup GF win, he was on absolute fire that night.
