He was a seriously talented footballer too, I also saw a game later that year at the WACA against Freo where he roved his own ruck tap then spun and sidestepped around a couple of Freo players before drilling a goal from the 50m line.
I don't think I've seen a better ruckman/forward when he was at his peak in 97/98, his broken collarbone in 97 probably cost us a flag.

Spida was the prototype ruck/forward. A killer weapon. Injuries to him and Lazar cost us dearly in 1997.
Laze would come on and Spida would go forward.
