I was surprised a thread didn't already exist for this, especially after the last year. I doubt I'm the only thinking "do I need to live in a major city? I like Melbourne, but I'm not sure I love it at the moment."

No doubt people would have different definition of what's a great place to live - for me I'm just thinking an affordable place near the beach. I'm not sure such a place even exists in Australia though.

If you go more then about 1 hour north of Sunshine Coast you have to start dealing with crocodiles in the oceans and rivers. Kind of ruins the swimming spots.

I'd love to live in Esperance, WA. Probably my favourite place in the country.
