that is one of the best wins ive seen by the boys considering the past 2 weeks whats happened and that Port are one of the top 4 teams in the AFL right now. And in the dressing rooms they were yelling out the theme song bloody brilliant!

Yes congratulations to the Roos. While the game looked sloppy, up close there was do getting away from how harder and more determined the Roos were at the ball all night. By the time Port started to peg them back it was too late.

As for Port, I can handle getting whipped but not some of the lack of dtermination particularly in some uncontested marks. A couple of harder defenders were missed but that's not an excuse since our replacements should have done better.

I'll put this on the shorter thread.

When the Roos scored the late goal to push the margin back out to 15 points a few people started getting up in fornt of us. The roo supporters started howling about how it was just like being at a crows game, even though those people packing up clearly weren't Port supporters or at least had no colours and there was nly about 3 or 4. Anyway..

I explained to my sons on either side of me that we are never beaten till the siren goes, then we are beaten. This is a lie but so is the Easter Bunny.

Anyway my mate yells from down the seat "It's not over till the fat lady sings". The little kid who was packing up in front of us tugs his mums sleeve and asks very seriously "Can we stay and see the fat lady sing?"

Well it was funny at the time, but if he keeps this attitude he might make a good Port supporter.

I've been to a few Port Magpies and Port Power games and one thing you don't want to do is get up before the end of the game. It's almost a guarantee that someone will have a go at you for leaving early.

A few years ago I attended a Port/LIons game at the Gabba with my 8yo son. Stood under the old scoreboard on the grass. I was amazed at the number of Port supporters there and how vocal they were. One supporter was ringing his mate up the Coast giving regular updates of the game.

After abusing his players for most of the first half he seemed to have quite an effect as Port stormed back in the second half and in fact lead by 4 or 5 goals into the last quarter. So superior did they seem that Lions supporters were leaving early and did this guy give them a spray. He was merciless. It was my sons first experience of this sort of thing and he was rather bemused by it all.

The Lions then staged a remarkable turnaround and as Shaun Hart kicked the goal after the siren to draw the game my son tugged my shorts and asked where that noisy guy had gone. He was already halfway out the gate!!

Pure ****** gold!!!

Damn right about that. If a port supporter leaves in front of us ill give them a right royal serve......if you cant stay till the nd when your losing you might as well stay at home

And fair enough too I reckon

Port vs Norwood prelim final in 1996...Norwood were in front, and the Norwood supporters in front of me got up and headed off early to beat the rush after carrying on all game about how crap Port were.

Port kick a couple of miracle goals (HODGES!!!!) after they left, winning the game, and that was justice most poetic. I've never left early, and after that example, never will.
