I just can't fathom the fact that there are so many supporters, well so many on Big Footy anyway, that want their club to lose. They want the wooden spoon. It's as if the draft is an exact science, and if you come last, well don't worry, it guarantees success.

So what do the people who want this to happen do. Do you buy your membership, and go to the games you can? Then sit there and not cheer when we go well? Or maybe only cheer the kids and that's it, still hoping we lose?

its not all about kreuzer, im sure you are the one with NFI, all you seem to do is produce negative bullsh*t out of your mouth.

Absolutely positively sure, no doubt about it, its indisputable dude. You are also sure that winning 5 or 6 games at this point in the season is the way forward, because duuurrrr, it will foster a winning culture....really? wow.
I rest my case. ;)

Cannot tell you how much i agree with those sentiments .

You know the game that sticks in my mind the most for being one of the rare occasions we have ever really shown some real G&D was the drawn game against the bombers in 95 ... i rate that as arguably one of the best games i have seen .

difficult to defend the sentiment through such a mediocre era, is a tad harsh though. There have been some regular gutsy performances along the way just hasnt been sustained and in review looks more like a flash in the pan...what about the come back against WC at the g a couple of years back from 40pts down, only to be denied by judds brilliance, hell didnt we beat the swannies in their premiership yr...I can even recall a half season patch under spud where we went against the grain with a bunch of injuries that ulitmately crippled us. In the end it was never sustained coz you're right, we lacked leadership both on and off field. Long term decisons were lacking and onfield leaders were always thin...I like the sound of the spirit being developed, interesting to hear kingy talk of the comraderie of the 1-4 year players, almost a slight on the rest and not the first time I ve heard that either:rolleyes:

naaa dude. I wont elaborate on your thought process or lack of it, but it doesnt guarantee you success, who ever said that? What those who you talk of are saying, is that we know for a fact that winning a few games at the end of a dead sseason, just to satisfy bandwagoners, is what our ****ing problem has been for the last decade and a half.
And if we **** up at the draft and we finish on the bottom, then we go again with the draft. What we dont want to do is meander in the desert of 11th,10th and 9th forever going nowhere fast, then having to pick up recycleds, because we are stagnating, wating another 3 years, before we work out that we are still going nowhere fast. So you and the other bandwagoners, can clap their hands and cheer 10 times a year..;)

The simple fact is Wallace came to the club with a 5 year plan to turn the place around. He has just entered the second half of that plan. In a way it is a bit like that final against the Dons back in 95 when we were down 7 odd goals just after half time. The way I look at it now we are 7 goals down on the rest of the comp and Wallace needs to make moves to ensure that at the end of this 5 year period we are in front. Whether he is still sitting in the coaches box is another question.

Again I agree with the sentiments of those who are sick and tired of the constant 9th placed finishes. Stuff that I want finals and not like we have had over the last 25 years where we play twice, I want sustained success and if it means we suffer a little now to eventually gain it then so be it. If some of you want to jump off then go right ahead don't let any of us stop you. Those of us that are prepared to wear the pain now will be smiling in the long run knowing we have stuck by the club through the dark times and when the club is back where it belongs and stays there then we can be and will be satisfied.

We were shot that night , after being 10 - 1 the half way point we were starting to list . Richo was gone for the year , there were other injuries that night , Butch Gale broke his collarbone in the first half and it all looked lost at 4 odd goals down in the third quarter . But the resolve they showed that night was right up there with the best .

It all comes down to culture and on-field leadership .

I don`t want to turn this into a "GASPARFEST" , but i truelly believe that a lot of the rot starts with players like him . People can say what they want but i don`t believe that was ever a die-hard Richmond man ... money man , yes ... Richmond man ... no . And there have been plenty of others like him. Its no coincidence that during our magnificent "Ninthmond" era we would turn our toes up at the end of the season every year when it really counted .

Leaders lift those around them ... they bring thier team-mates into the game and inspire them ... can you hoestly say that Darren Gaspar did that in his time at Punt rd. ...? I know i am picking on him and the fact is he was not on his own during this era

Do you think it is any coincidence the difference Nathan Brown made to our side last week ?

Back to 95 again ... the day Stopper Turner drew a line in the sand . the day he almost single handedly turned another finals flogging around to one of our finest moments with two hip and shoulders ?

The theme of this thread ... i totally agree , Richmond jumpers have been meted out as if they were in Cornflakes boxes for too long now ... Ploughs sentiments on this are spot on .

On Jack Riewoldt ... he was sensational v nth Ballarat last week , BOG for mine and something to get excited about . Just moved as though he was a cut above ... don`t think it will be to long before he earns his stripes

agree - i think 95 had a plethora of "defining" games . The smashing 1st quarter win of north ( and that they held control after that) - the slogging wet weather win against the hawks to finally break the drought, the 10goal smashing of the eagles at princess park - the draw against essendon - and i even thought the next week where we lost to carlton, that match was a bone breaker - and i thought our boys did extremely well.

back in 95, we had a lot of onfield leaders - campbell, free, knights, maxfield their is four players who have all been captains. then add in the likes of greg dear, richo, scott turner, even nick daffy that season was a stand up player.

mal brown ****ed the soul of that club when he cornered northey out - and many of those players never showed that same intensity to make richmond what it deserved to be - because the people who ran the club cared more about their go than creating sucess

So i'm guessing you jump of the tigers now and don't go to games? We've already had a wooden spoon in the past 3 years, and if we aren't good enough to recruit talent from the picks that we get then get rid of those in charge of recruiting.

Yup I agree to an extent but if he goes by his word Riewoldt and Edwards WILL get a guernsey this week . . .

Let's wait and see.

yea but that doesn't mean he has to do it straight away, he may want to let these guys develop a bit more and i don't think it exactly means if your not in the side your not good enough, especially for the youngsters.

wallace says everyone must earn their jumper

so how the hell does sugar get a game????

if richo wasn't performing would you not let him play, no you can't, senior players like suga or richo play regardless, if they don't perform think back to kellaway, there's different rules for different levels nothing is as easy as one rule for all or even an exact standard.

incorrect. I dont jump off the tigers, i.e the membership renewal"S" arrive and they are paid for without a second thought. Then if there is something on, and basically if we are playing at that ****ing ****ed up stadium, the Dome, i might not go, or i might.
The bottom line is, i am there for evey game, since my money is at tigerland.
Dont get me wrong, the only thing that keeps me going to games is to watch the youngsters and see what they have to offer, along with the Richo capers and when he is there, the browny party tricks. Other than that, the usual suspects keep on keeping on with the same old shit, that we have seen year in year out. For me I dont give a ****, if a pettifer laid "the perfect tackle", once in 7 years. Or a Hyde had a couple of "better" games in the last 7 years. Or a Tiv played well one game and ****ed up the next. Or even if a Joel Bowden, once again kicked out from the goals, and 2 seconds later we have conceded a goal. Even Krak who I have had time for should be at the exit door.
That stuff is and has been around forever. When it isnt, and there is only one way to remove it, then we will see change.
That well used excuse of "if we can trade" has been also going around forever. Me thinks its time to cut to the chase, and cut. Because when you do cut, you are automatically into new territory, good or bad, its new. If its bad then we change it up again, if its good, you stick to what you have that is good.
Its time for TW to clear out the rubbish ;)

Yeh, great words
Going by his words, Riewoldt should be in the team this week.

theres a risk in everything you do. with recruiting its about common sense.
common sense says if you have the right people in place you have a far better chance of recruiting good solid long term players with early picks than you do with late picks.
what pick would you rather have pick 1 or pick 41.

in recent times the draft has become a science and i would say most 1st and second round picks go on to decent careers.
i ask why win late games and jeopardise a proven way to sustained finals appearances.
why play long term underachievers who might win half a dozen games for you when you can play youngsters who might not win a game for the rest of the yr but it will certainly benefit the club long term in more ways than one.

i ask atm who wants to go and watch tivendale krakouer pettifer kingsley hall etc etc etc we know they wont take us anywhere.i dont but it doesnt stop me cheering them on game day. and i ask how many still want to go and watch because of the promising kids.
have a look at the interest in coburg everyone wants to know how they are going because of the kids and we know they are the way forward.

one of my best mates is a wce supporter when they missed finals in 2000 2001 and when worsfold first took over. he was always saying yeah we copped a hiding today i dont care we played our promising kids i tell ya you can see the kids are gunna turn this around for us in time. and they have.

I almost always agree with what you have to say. Sometimes I don't understand what you are saying. Sometimes, you post something like this and it's worth reading two or three times because it is succint and to the point and from the heart as well as the head.

have to agree with you cogga. just not too many in one hit and some of the kids need a resonable amount of time on the list to prove themselves as long as there working hard
