The Irish minority in Northern Ireland might object, but that's it. With regards to Ash, they are considered a "British" band, just like most other Northern Irish bands.
Except Stiff Little Fingers.

Nothin' for us in Belfast
The Pound's so old it's a pity
OK, there's the trident in Bangor
Then walk back to the city
We ain't got nothin' but they don't really care
They don't even know you know
Just want our money
And we can take it or leave it
What we need

An Alternative Ulster
Grab it and change it it's yours
Get an Alternative Ulster
Ignore the bores and their laws
Get an Alternative Ulster
Be an anti-security force
Alter your native Ulster
Alter you native land

Take a look where you're livin'
You got the Army on your street
And the RUC dog of repression
Is barking at your feet
Is this the kind of place you wanna live?
Is this where you wanna be?
Is this the only life we're gonna have?
What we need is

An Alternative Ulster
Grab it and change it it's yours
Get an Alternative Ulster
Ignore the bores and their laws
Get an Alternative Ulster
Be an anti-security force
Alter your native Ulster
Alter you native land

They say they've got control of you
But that's not true you know
They say they're a part of you
And that's a lie you know
They say you will never be

<--- parklife ! oi !!

probably listen to 'modern life is rubbish' alot more (my fav. songs are on it), but overall, parklife is a more polished effort...

I agree

Parklife is the quintesential English(British) Album of the 90's.

Damon's efforts put him in the Ray Davies class of being able to write songs that encompass the english quaintness/drabness of life.

Surely you would have a "Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine" CD in there as well if you have those two. ;)

Some great albums in there... I'd throw in Queen's Innuendo (1991) into that list. Contains two of the best songs they ever wrote (Innuendo, The Show Must Go On) and several other strong tracks.

Definitely Maybe - oddly I'd argue that Morning Glory had better songs on it, but the whole album of Definitely Maybe flows so well.

Honourable mentions to Portishead for Dummy, Ash for 1977, Pulp for Different Class, Blur for Modern Life is Rubbish and Parklife and Elastica for their self titled album.
