Greatest Game Ever

Tetris.

Simple games are timeless.

Something like Double Dragon may have got everyone back in the arcades, but is is ancient now, and plays that way. You start playing Tetris, either now or in 20 years time, and you won't be able to stop.

The greatest game ever would have to be Donkey King Country 3, a great game on a great console the SNES, the SNES has some of the great games, especially seeing that it is so weak, the new consoles are powerful, but the games lack brillance, we need a steady medium

It depends what you assess on, but for me, the game which kept me occupied for the longest, enjoyed the most and still reverentially fire up every couple of weekends

Star Control II
Circa 1992, and still the greatest game of all time. Has anyone else even heard of this gem?

Ive got addicted to Counter Strike, Starcraft (Brood War), Battlefield1942 and Ghost Recon :D

Apart from the playability, the best thing about Bubble Bobble was the music.

Do-do-do DE do-do-do, DE do-do-do-do dooo. Da-da, dum dum dum dum dum da-da, dum, da da da-da daaaa.

Its amazing how many of the games being mentioned are older games. I'd say mostly because games back then had to have good gameplay in order to sell because they didn't have the graphic capabilities of today. Whereas today a lot of creators are worried more about how a game looks and gameplay comes second in a few cases.

Best game ever, The Secret of Monkey Island (not the other 3 games, just the first one)
OMG, I loved that game. I had it on my Amiga500 and couldn't stop playing it. I even went out and purchased another 3.5" external disk drive, because the game was on about 6 to 7 disks(if I member corectly) and I was sick of continually changing floppy's :p
Good too see someone else has experianced this game as one of the all time best.

The game took me years to finish, I mean it too. I loved it, the humour, the gameplay it all rocked.

It was spanned over 6-7 disks but did you ever find the 'stump joke' in the forest? If you clicked on a certain stump in the forest it would pop up with a message 'Insert disk 22'. :D

That joke was sadly removed for the newer CD versions of the game, the second game 'LeChuck's Revenge' was also good, didn't quite capture the satire of the first game.

The more recent games are terrible, The Curse of Monkey Island was visually appealing, but not as enthralling as the original two. ;)
