I'm a Spurs fan, so I generally try to pretend the 90's didn't happen.

I don't know about statistically but that Man Utd team of the early to mid 90's, 93-95 really had something special about it.

------------------Schmeichel-----
G.Neville----Pallister---Bruce-----Irwin
Beckham----Keane----Scholes----Giggs
-------Hughes-------Cantona----------

Schmeichel IMO is undisputed as the greatest GK of the EPL era.

G.Neville whilst unpopulur with some was a very good RB and arguably the most consistent in the position in the EPL era. D.Irwin was an outstanding full back who could deliver a dangerous cross and was defensively sound. Add to that a great CB pairing of Pallister and Bruce who were well capable of scoring goals.

The midfield offers everything, amazing dead ball, passing and crossing ability as well as goals from the right in Beckham. Giggs scoring and creating with sheer pace and talent on the left. Scholes ability to control a temp and pick a pass/through ball (admittedly he probably played more of an attacking midfield role in those days), Keane additionally is IMO the dominant central midfield player of the EPL in the 1990's. Complete nutjob but an outstanding player.

The Hughes and Cantona were not only goalscorers, but got involved in build up play and creating chances for other players. Strong enigmatic characters who could scored classy goals at key moments.

I won't even touch on the bench, handy to have Bryan Robson to slot in..

Who'd make a combined Invincibles/Centurion team?

Pretty tough, especially what formation to play.

Lehmann
Lauren Kompany Campbell Cole
Vieira D.Silva
Sterling---------------KDB
Henry Aguero
Kills me to leave Bergkamp out, but Aguero has to be there next to Henry.

Bench for me would be

Ederson
Gilberto Silva
Pires
Bergkamp
Walker
Fernandinho
Laporte

Probably left someone very obvious out that I can't think of, but that's what I'd go with.

Definitely the invincibles. Going an entire season unbeaten won't be repeated any time soon. Also the team was built rather than bought. Played with panache, physical & mental strength. Something not seen with the current day gunners.
less wins and points than Chelsea 04/05 though.

29-8-1 to me is more impressive than 26-12-0, itd also win out on a points basis if the two were in the same comp.

City probably when you consider their winning ratio over the last two seasons. Two championships averaging 99 points plus five of the six domestic trophies on offer. You can’t really go against that. Only in Europe have they faltered and ironically going out to two English sides.

After that I’d have United’s late 00’s side, three consecutive titles plus one CL and another CL final appearance. Then it’s a toss-up between the Arsenal invincibles and various Chelsea sides. Can’t ignore United's treble winners or the City sides that won titles under Mancini and Pellegrini either. So many great sides, easier to list the poorer ones probably most of which were in the 90’s.

Yeah not sure how the Invincible's team is rated so low.
The era was weaker. Still a very accomplished team, but there’s been three, four or even five teams better imo. You could even argue the current Liverpool team is better and they’ve yet to win the league. Take off those rose tinted glasses

This Liverpool team will beat the Invincible's record I reckon of 49 unbeaten.

Are we capable of doing it? Sure.

Will we do it? Impossible to say. Literally anything could happen.

There are 18 games to go. In any one of them we could easily have an off day, our growing injury list (Matip, Lovren, Clyne, Fabinho, Keita, Ox, Shaqiri, Brewster) could finally take it's toll, Klopp could spontaneously burst into flames, who knows.

An invincible/100 point season, I wouldn't waste any time thinking about it at this point of the season. Need to focus on winning the thing first!

Still a ways to go to get there. I think we're on 36 so still need 13 games unbeaten. We still have City away. So talk of beating the record or going the full season ... Invincibles, Centurions and all that.

Its too early. If we get to like matchday 30 woth all those in sight then it can become a real thing.

I'm just hoping we win the league. If we just so happen to win it and beat Arsenals Invincibles record and City's points total record then awesome!

But I'm jot really bothered. Just winning it will be huge in itself. Something over the past 10 years i honestly thought I would never see in my life.

SAF finally retired and United's dominance was over. Just as that happens though the Shieks buy City and it looked impossible to compete with their money.

Yet here we are. Henry, Edwards.... Klopp. Crazy...

Haha shows how clueless people are really. Arsenal came nowhere near being Europe's best. They got dominated in the CL and ppl saying they're undefeated. They were chokers against big teams. A team of losers in the end.
It was Chelsea who knocked them out of the CL that season

Arsenal's record is impressive but I think Chelsea 2004-2006, Man City 2017-2019 and Liverpool's 2018-2020 teams are superior to Arsenal's invincibles team.

Man U '99-ish being underrated. Sir Alex is an old prick but they had the best combination of so many great players but that intimidating team ethos. they won everything, too.

Arsenal 2003/2004 is being kicked because the team itself wasn't that amazing. they just all clicked and Wenger was at his absolute smartest. Thierry Henry is the best striker in the Premier League era, only Cantona would rival it for me. Ashley Cole's terrible legacy at the club makes people forget how tidy he was. Pires and Freddie Ljungberg are unfairly forgotten too. but seriously, an old as * Ray Parlour Pascal Cygan getting games but then Lauren and Edu playing basically every week? barely scary. it just worked.

Chelsea 2005/2006 was bought. meh.

City didn't do enough in Europe but Liverpool win it this season... you'd probably prefer them in your club's history.

Is it though? Wins matter. I mean we only lost 1 game last season and didn't even win the league.

Thought it was obvious. It's a lot more impressive to win a lot of games than draw them. Points tallies are a better indication than losses. While they might have not lost to anyone, they drew with plenty. I find City far more impressive with the odd loss but lots more teams got nothing at all from them.

I doubt the invincibles would finish top four now. Certainly wouldn’t be challenging Liverpool or City

Would be tough keeping up with Raheem Sterling in your mid 40s I'd think.

You don't think a team with Henry, Bergkamp, Viera, Asjley Cole, Pires & Ljungberg would be able to finish above Leicester?
