Diamond Jim Tilbrook.

Came over on serious money ($7000 I think). Beautiful long kick, especially his torpedos. I heard that his teamates weren't impressed he was on so much money that there was a bit of resentment. Wouldn't kick or handpass to him.

But in all seriousness - Viney the best I've seen.

Saddest story of that list is Peter Yeo who after his career was over, slipped on a polished floor and was left a paraplegic.

List didn't include players from Broken Hill like George Lakes (not his real name http://wiki.fcmelbourne.com.au/George+Lakes) which was under SA jurisdiction at the time.

I would also pick Todd Viney

I notice that Phil Carman is listed as a South Australian

While recruited from Norwood to Collingwood he was actually born in Edenhope , Victoria

Carman was easily the most talented player on that list but i would still pick Viney ahead of him

Viney may be in the mix to become an AFL senior coach down the track

2 that got away were the Jarman Brothers (Andrew and Darren) who just didnt want to become Demons

Notable players i think were great croweaters who represented the MFC with distinction were Obst , Stretch ,and Ingerson

This without a doubt.

But what will be even better is when young Jack Viney joins the Dees in the next year or two.

Definitely Viney. He is one of the few players of the previous generation that you can imagine playing just as well in today's game speed.

I keep hearing talk about the father/son rules changing. I hope it doesn't affect our access to Jack Viney. He looks like he'll be a real pearler.
