A couple of mates and I were talking football and we were discusing the old days of transfers, if anyone here remembers them, like the trade wars between collingwood and richmond.
One of the great transfers was templeton to melbourne for a small fortune.
And the worst was richmond ripping the guts out of fitzroy(eg m.gale, brodrick for jeff hogg)
Agood deal for the doggies was they paid 35,000 for a dud like chris hansen, but the roys said give us another 5,000 and you can have this kid we dont think highly of..
that kid turned out to be peter foster a good buy
Any more any one can think of

Jeff Hogg to Fitzroy for Michael Gale, Paul Broderick and Matty Dundas.

John Pitura to Richmond for Graham Teasdale, Brian Roberts and Francis Jackson.

Nifty Nev to South for Terry and Neale Daniher.

Gerry McCarthy to Fitzroy for Terry Wallace.

John McCarthy to Fitzroy for John Blakey.

Russell Greene to Hawthorn for Mark Scott and Tony King.

The greatest = Nathan Buckley for Craig Starcevich and Troy Lehmann.

Jarrod Molloy for Moneybags Michael will be another good trade for the Black and White army.

Yep, definitely TD and ND for Neville Fields (at the end of his otherwise illustrious career) for mine. Would have been a whole lot more embarrassing if ND hasn't broken down after 90 odd games (had skills superior to Hird).

I would have to say the biggest transfer would have to be Paul Salmon from Essendon to Hawthorn in return for Paul Barnard.
The Fish is a Champ!!!

Dutchy's Gal

Don't forget we got Sean Wellman (All oz CHB) in that deal - we're not overly upset about it either. The Big Fish was a great result for you (and him) but hey, he's now retired and both Welly and Barny have years of top footy in front of them and medals around their necks!

On the other hand, good luck with Rehn - if he works out half as well as Salmon then you've still done well on the deal.

Dutch

In recent memory for the Lions the best would be Simon Hawking & Brad? Green for draft pick No 35 who turned out to be Simon Black.

Go Lions!

However I think the best/worst has to be Sydney letting Roo Boy & Horse go. WHAT were they thinking????

NTP : Clinton Queen isn't that much, afterall he can't kick over 30m. I've always thought he should get a haircut and put on some weight.

P.S Don't get me started on "Stone Cold" Steve Mckee either.

Btw the Nickname has more to do with his form on the field as opposed to any similarities with the Texas Rattlesnake.

Three more shuffles in the Salmon/Jarman/Wellman/Barnard deal add McKinnon to Geelong, Ingerson to Melbourne and Cavan to Adelaide.

It has to be one of the most convoluted trading deals the AFL has seen. And all because Salmon wanted to be a ruckman and Jarman wanted to come home.
