Don't know how many people would be around from when Rodgers was coming through. Probably nobody as far as on field coaching goes.
it is almost impossible to have such a run of great qbs, cant be merely coincidence, must be some kind of cultural coaching principle established in the org a long time ago that gets passed down....like say how the steelers always have a great d despite changes.

love was a beastly selection too, he has very high ceiling, just good coaching and not giving up on him, demanding certain improvements, will see him evolve rodgers had the talent but they didnt give up on him either, he had flaws in his game for three years at practice till they got it out of him.

I mean it is only two QBs. I think it is just a matter of luck. Of course having a good system in place is important but they're all completely different systems when it comes to staff and type of offence and that's without mentioning how much the league has changed. Would have loved to see how Favre went without getting the s**t beat out of him every week, combined with the 'passing league' stats. The Packers had decades of pretty shitty QBs before Favre.

i do count starr before them too. i know there was a bad run of qbs till favre happened, but they learned something when ron wolf became gm and he probably planted in the org a set of guidelines that were followed on by thompson etc.

Receiver Bailey Gaither has elected to retire, the team announced. Gathier signed with Green Bay in the spring as a college free agent following the draft. He spent six years at San José State, redshirting as a freshman. He then tore his Achilles in 2018 but played the next two seasons.

Gaither is the second young Green Bay player to retire since the start of training camp. Last year’s sixth-round pick Simon Stepaniak retired on Saturday.

Don't think it could be understated how important it is that Myers has come in and they've barely noticed Linsley isn't there. I wasn't a fan of picking a Centre in the 2nd round but I've come around to the idea, looks like a class guy.

Also Aaron loves him so that's something.

It was the same with Linsley. he came in as a rook and looked like a vet. first game was in Seattle and didnt make any major mistakes in the noise

FOX's Jay Glazer reports the Packers have agreed to trade Aaron Rodgers if he still wants out of Green Bay following the 2021 season.
Much was made of the fact that Rodgers' reworked deal did not include an official out clause for 2022, but it appears the sides have a handshake agreement. If Rodgers still wants a trade, GM Brian Gutekunst will back down and grant it. There is an eternity between now and next offseason, of course, but it would seem Rodgers and his front office are getting more on the same page after a year-plus of animosity.

Not bad. His technique looks a little slow but It's hard to judge fairly being spoiled watching Aaron Rodgers for years.
Didnt seem like he got much protection either, so rushed into a lot of those throws. The deep bomb a little underthrown or off-target. But he was good at finding the checkdown or second/third read when the pressure got there.

Imo this has been a problem we've wallpapered over for years because Rodgers has been so good. If it's not addressed before he moves on it's going to be exposed badly.

Hes still very much a rookie, hardly any reps, I think once the game slows down for him it won't be as exposed. Growing pains right now. But he looked quite decent considering.

Aaron Rodgers, other Packers publicly lobby for Clay Matthews to be re-signed

Posted by Mike Florio on August 14, 2021, 11:42 AM EDT

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers asked for receiver Randall Cobb, and Rodgers got receiver Randall Cobb. Now, Rodgers wants another former teammate back in Green Bay.

Rodgers, along with Cobb and left tackle David Bakhtiari, took to social media to stump for the Packers to re-sign Matthews.

BRING HIM BACK,” Rodgers typed over a photo of Matthews.

Against the background of tension that boiled over into a potential boycott of the coming season by Rodgers, and that could still see Rodgers try to get out in 2022, his decision to publicly pressure the Packers’ from office merits close attention. Will G.M. Brian Gutekunst give Rodgers and others what they want? Matthews has been available for more than a year, and there’s been no indication that the Packers have interest in a reunion.

Cut last year by the Rams, Matthews rebuffed interest from the Broncos and made $2 million in guaranteed money to not play. This year, he has no financial reason to pass on an opportunity to play. There has been no indication that any team has attempted to sign him.

The timing of this move by Rodgers makes things potentially more awkward. The front office possibly is (or isn’t) warming to the idea of giving Rodgers a much-deserved seat at the table when it comes to personnel and other matters that typically don’t fall within the job description of player. The decision of the man who recently aired out his grievances regarding Gutekunst’s approach during a press conference has launched an external campaign to bring Matthews back, even if Gutekunst doesn’t think it’s the right move for the franchise.

What Rodgers doesn’t understand (or maybe he does and doesn’t care) is that teams must constantly make hard decisions about who stays and who goes, balancing veterans getting near the end of the road with young players who will develop into the future nucleus of the team. Bringing back Matthews would mean bumping someone else off the roster, and delaying someone else’s development as Matthews gets those snaps.

It’s natural for players to want to play with other players they know, like, and respect. There’s a familiarity, a comfort level. One that makes it easier to develop the proper camaraderie for the current season. The G.M. has to think more broadly. Does the older player’s remaining talent justify the move? From a cap-value standpoint, is it better to give someone younger a chance to develop?

It’s always better to part ways with a player one year too early instead of one year too late. The Packers moved on from Matthews after the 2018 season. There’s a reason they haven’t tried to re-sign him before Rodgers launched his public campaign to “BRING HIM BACK.”

This doesn’t mean the Packers haven’t bungled their relationship with Rodgers. They have. But if Rodgers has any interest in mending fences — and he quite possibly doesn’t — he should stop trying to publicly pressure the front office to sign former players. Instead, he should take it up directly with the front office.
