The mail I have is that he has a serious stress fracture in his back and is unlikely to play at all this summer and may be looking at surgery

Updated story from The Age.Ridiculous how much short pitch bowling the bloke has been doing.
I thought the story was he won’t bowl but he can bat. So that’s a significant change.

Really good point. For a young player with a history of back issues so what do they do…make him do the thing that is hardest on the body….id give up bowling or take a lead out of Shane Watsons book when he finally realised being an out and out fast bowler was no good for him
No current season stats available
They will want another all rounder. Marsh doesn’t bowl enough to justify not having one.Obviously a lot of water to go under the bridge until the 1st test, but if he's out what do they do with the lineup?
Put Smith back to 4 and bring in Harris,Bancroft or Renshaw (my preference)
Keep Smith at the top, and play either McSweeney, Handscomb, Webster or Hardie
Well looks like green dog is going to NZ as patto and Behrendoff did for surgery ..better long term for greenieObviously a lot of water to go under the bridge until the 1st test, but if he's out what do they do with the lineup?

Smith will go to four mitch is an all rounder will have to bowl a specialist opener is neededThey will want another all rounder. Marsh doesn’t bowl enough to justify not having one.
Yep Whiteman should be in that mix as wellSmith will go to four mitch is an all rounder will have to bowl a specialist opener is needed
Bangers Harris Renshaw in the mix
But........On a fast bouncier Perth pitch where you need to leave the ball on length.......well there is a sleeper and he has just scored a hundred when the team was 2 for none after two balls and scored a hundred in the shield final last year ...that sleeper is Whiteman
But again these next three shield games are going to be huge
Maybe another all rounder for the back end of the series Melbourne and Sydneyany love for hardie, webster or maxwell (would be a stretch for the india series) or even neser as green's replacement ?
i'm guessing bumrah, ashwin and jadeja would be licking their lips if that's the case.
could be a view for the upcoming sri lanka tour though.
not sure i can trust marsh's bowling , in saying that head and marnus can bowl a few overs in need and we probably should just select a specialist opener.
happensIncredible time for Bancroft to get a pair

Head is more than reasonable off spinner, Neser is an outstanding player but probably not good enough as a bat to get a look in at 6. Generally speaking we play three tall fast bowlers in Australia amd England and on slow spinning tracks we play Lyon and a left arm orthodox. Neser like Sayers before him is none of the above. Woakes is a similar player to both and only gets used sporadically by England. With Green out and Marsh not bowling a lot and ageing like the rest of our team - we are in a precarious position on most fronts. The only two areas i am confident in are our back up keepers and Murphy will step straight in for Lyonany love for hardie, webster or maxwell (would be a stretch for the india series) or even neser as green's replacement ?

Green dog is still young it’s disappointing but he will be back for the ashes next yearIt’s a real shame because I feel like this would’ve been Green’s breakout summer where he announced himself as a dominant batsman.
Just scored a brilliant ton in NZ earlier this year which would’ve given him a lot of confidence that he can play the no.4 role. Has been doing well in the white ball squads throughout the year too. Runs under the belt.
I just hope we don’t see another generational talent wasted to injury. In an alternate universe, Pucovski would also already have the other opener slot sewn up by now.
