Also starting to think that GreenEdge is the only logical choice for Cavendish.

Cav can bugger off.

Sky is the only logical choice for Cavendish with a leadout of;

Cavendish
Renshaw
Eisel
Swift
Boasson-Hagen
Thomas

etc. That will be unstoppable. Cav won't be going to GreenEdge. GreenEdge won't be able to accommodate his needs.

If Renshaw leaves then Cav will struggle. Any chance of Renshaw leaving?

Renshaw will go where Cav goes.

Will be shocked if Renshaw goes to GreenEdge and lead out someone like Goss who is not a pure bunch sprinter. He will stay with Cav. He will get a lot of money and perks to do so.

Sky won't be worrying about Wiggins next TDF so they can work out what to do in 2013.

Any chance of Renshaw parting with Cav if he could be the key sprinter on a team? Goss to led out Renshaw?

Not sure.

All I know is Matt Goss and Wes Sulzberger have signed to GreenEdge.

Rupert Guinness seems to think Martin is going to GreenEdge - his sources would be right. It would make sense that Martin is going to GreenEdge. GreenEdge can get a few wins with Martin instantly.

I'm hearing that Renshaw is sticking with Cav and that is Sky.

Please be true, The 2 Tassie boys together(minus Porte), would love it.

Goss has signed?

Yes, they are just dragging everything out which is a pain in the arse. They will probably make one announcement every 3 days over the next 2 months. It's ridiculous how long they are dragging it out. Those folks have signed, just announce it rather than string it all out.

commercial strategy.

they'll want to give plenty of exposure to their naming rights sponsor in the lead-up to next season. These current successful announcements have the intention to prove their value & competence as a sporting organisation, and also, to pique the interest of their target partners, that being an Australian company with business in the major continental European markets. Id say the intention is to reach a deal with a major partner and announce some of the signings under the banner of the naming rights sponsor rather than just Green Edge. You'd think that the resignation of Mike McKay who was handling the commercial side of the operation has put this side of the business behind a bit.

Fair call.

As for Pieter Weening, I watched him in the Giro this year, held the pink jersey for about a week. Not the best rider, more of an opportunistic break away specialist than anything from what I saw. He does have plenty of ticker though, so thats a big plus.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald the following riders already have signed for GreenEdge

Michael Albasini (HTC-Highroad)
Simon Clarke (Astana)
Baden Cooke (Saxo Bank, SunGard)
Allan Davis (Astana )
Julian Dean (Garmin-Cervelo)
Luke Durbidge (Jayco-AIS)
Mitch Docker (Skil-Shimano)
Simon Gerrans (Sky)
Matt Goss (HTC-Highroad)
Michael Hepburn (Jayco-AIS)
Leigh Howard (HTC-Highroad)
Brett Lancaster (Garmin-Cervelo)
Sebastian Langeveld (Rabobank)
Matt Lloyd (ex Omega Pharma-Lotto)
Jens Mouris (Vacansoleil)
Luke Roberts (Saxo Bank, SunGard)
Wesley Sulzberger (FDJ)
Daniel Teklehaymanot (Eritrea)
Matt Wilson (Garmin-Cervelo)
Tomas Vaitkus (Astana)
Pieter Weening (Rabobank)
Jack Bobridge
Cameron Meyer
Travis Meyer (Garmin-Cervelo)
Stuart O’Grady (Leopard-Trek)

We know Sulzberger, Vaitkus and Goss have definitely signed (from the ones that haven't been released yet) + the ones that have been announced. 25 signatures, 3 more riders for the perfect list so no doubt they will be courting Tony Martin. But Albasini is a good GC rider anyway.

It looks like Garmin have lost all their Aussie riders. Looks like Lachlan Morton could get upgraded from the Garmin development team.

Thats looks fantastic. i cant wait for the Tour down under this year. hopefully the stages will be shown on SBS.

This will make me way more interested in cycling, other than the Tour. It was always hard to follow without a team.:thumbsu:

question, have they got the funding 100%, and do you reckon they will get a card in any of the grand tours?

Yeah, that's being discussed in the transfer thread.

Dutch media and Belgium media are reporting it too.

Renshaw is denying he has signed because he's not allowed to release info until September (HTC's guidelines) but RaboBank have reportedly offered him equal amount of money that Sky were offering and threw in guaranteed sprint leadership which swayed his mind of not signing with Sky.

That's why Goss, Howard etc won't be announced by GreenEdge until September.

I always thought that would be a possibility. Cav must be getting anxious.

Yeah. It may not be that big of a loss to Cav.

Let's assume Cav goes to Sky. He's still going to have a brilliant leadout.

Serious? Both Goss and Renshaw gone? I know there are other lead-out men around, but Renshaw is phenomenal. Cav is quality, so he will adapt, but it will take him time.

Cav has done alright without Renshaw before.

Assume he goes to sky, he will have a terrific leadout which will turn out to be better than HTC's.

He will still have Eisel, he will have Boasson-Hagen and will have Thomas. Therefore the loss of Renshaw won't be too hurtful to him.

If he goes to another team then it will be. But if he goes to Sky, he will be more than fine.
