Would probably be the only all star team he was a chance for.

Greg "Booster" Anderson was a top quality wingman, could kick the ball 60 metres with ease and was a great player for us, despite the mullet he was far from a bogan, was quite well spoken and a very popular player among the red and black faithful, especially with the ladies...was a 2 time All Australian, the year before he joined us and the year after he left...was a very classy outside player...

Where does he sit in the history of our great club?

Became one of my favourites when he first came to the club. Gave us a lot of outside run and penetration going forward. Was one of the favourites for the Brownlow in 1990 then went to Adelaide in 93 after they joined the comp thus missing out on the 93 premiership in which he would have been in the leadership group. Poor bugger had to endure the 93 prelim debacle as well although he did get named AA that year.

He played 103 games for us. Does he have sons?
Also finished equal 9th in the brownlow alongside Boris Bewick....Didn't poll a vote in 1990 and I seem to remember him going off early in that Granny with a broken shoulder, polled 34 votes while with us for 5 years, was very classy...

Spot on LDJ - had a dislocated shoulder in the 1990 GF I think...
Was a good player there for a couple of seasons.
I too remember him finishing the 93 Prelim on the bench with a hammy - after the prick kicked one from outside 50 on the run.

**** me that is up there with some of the all time footy mullets.

Good player and was disappointing when he decided to go back to Adelaide. Paul Hills seemed to fill his role adequately in '93. Image I remember of Anderson was towards end of '93 Prelim and him sitting on the ground near the bench with a look on his face of "shit I wished I stayed another year".
He was the first recognisable turn coat for me as a kid. i think he was in injured or cramping late in that game. I told the image of him on the telly to "suck shit" and got told off by my mum.

For the record, he got 13 Brownlow votes in 1990 and was one of the favourites that year along with Millane and Tony Shaw.

Stats for him in 89/90 below.

I remember the comparisons being made between the 2 centrelines that year for Essendon and Collingwood;
Long, Kickett, Anderson
Vs
Millane, Shaw, Wright.

It was a real strength of those teams that year.

I went to school with Hillsy. First player I ever received a look-away handball from. He actually introduced me to the team (incl Anderson) when I ran into them at the Lorne Pub one pre-season. A shame he couldn't shake off injury later in his career. Was a real athlete.

For a wingman hills was a terrible bouncer of the ball, he'd lose it often mid stride

Hillsy was a very talented basketballer who probably had point guard potential. He might've been a better round ball bouncer... who knows? Was a bit of a surprise when he was drafted because his older brother Chris, was the more natural footballer (I think he kicked 20 goals in a game once). We all thought they got the wrong Hills at the draft. Paul then showed what he was capable of by dominating as a First XVIII captain and centreman. He was the reason Ballarat High reached a Herald Sun Shield final in about '89 and defeated St Pats for the first time in about 40 years the same year.

I think Paul lost the level of commitment required to bounce back from injuries after '93. Someone more in-the-know would be better to confirm this though.
