Really gutted by this. Know the bloke personally, and really hope this doesn't fly back in our face.

For one, hopefully Old Man Bentley is not allowed anywhere near the club. Makes David Cloke look like the patron saint of Football Dad's.

Hopefully the delisting from Port did his ego the world of good too.

Adam Thompson is a far better player

Was one of my favourites at Port.

Positives
Large body, which he makes use of well in the centre square. Thought his late games for Port were very underrated.
Shows great desperation and always willing to give 100%
Has the ability to play as a small to medium defender. Played a ripper of a game on Ryan O'Keefe a couple of years ago.

Negatives
Not overly quick
Poor decision making
Disposal. Not as bad as some will say though.

He's pretty ordinary. Pace is a concern, as is disposal. Wastes a lot of the ball by foot. Can rack up the disposals as shown in the SANFL but he just isn't damaging enough. Been used as a tagger a fair bit, especially with the Power, so maybe that's where you'll look to play him. I don't think he'll cut it as an attacking midfielder, possibly a small defender aiming to shut down a resting midfielder or something.

I wouldn't be thrilled with this if I were you, I think he's a career SANFL/VFL footballer.

I think he's as surprised as anyone. Some mutual friends bumped into him during the Cup Carnival, and asked if he'd be putting the boots on for Rosebud next season. He seemed pretty adamant he'd be playing in the SANFL next year.

yet youre a sturt fan and cant even spell his name properly!

I liked him. Not a favourite but thought he was worth another year with Port. His cons are such that they will most likely hold him back from any sort of successful AFL career, but he does have his positives as well. Hes versatile - can play midfield, forward and defence, has a mature body that can stand up in tackles etc. and he doesnt mind putting on the odd bump. On the other side he is slow and his decision making and skills let him down more often than it should. Played some good games at AFL level, especially in 2007.

Hes probably no worse than a Pfeiffer.

Greg Bentley now let me think about this, other then a couple of port supporters no one rates him, his down side is that he is slow, makes bad decisions and has fairly average disposal, just what we need! so in light of all these issues i'me backing him, how can i lose if he turns out to be shit its expected, if he turns out to be a gun it will be i told you so.
