Re: Essendon meets with Greg Inglis

The new clubs had marketing reasons behind taking NRL players. I couldn't see established teams taking him on at $600K a year.

Re: Essendon meets with Greg Inglis

amature hour in the nrl yet again

can't see us getting him, although he's a money honey campaigner, he seems more loyal to the sport than the other two. Would be a great get for us providing he is on the rookie list and we aren't paying much.

Re: Essendon meets with Greg Inglis

I reckon he could be alright TBH.
6'4 and can move sideways as well as forward, catch/mark, and kick. Sure, he won't be as good in a contest, but he'll deck the absolute crap out of blokes going the other way.

Can anyone say with a straight face he'd definitely be worse than Still, Neagle and Laycock?

Re: Essendon meets with Greg Inglis

Last couple of years he looks like he's been in a good paddock.

Great build for crash and bash rugby, but I question how he'd go for 120 mins of footy and if the time spent in re-sculpting his body for speed and leaping would be wasted in 2 years time when he returns back to the NRL.

I don't know why the Rebels aren't all over him??

Re: Essendon meets with Greg Inglis

have i missed something? why is this popping up again? has there been talk of us getting him in psd or rookie draft or something

Re: Essendon meets with Greg Inglis

Have changed my mind on this. He has turned into a complete tool, and I would not want his ***** attitude anywhere near the club. He can bugger of to some stuid French league for all I care.

Re: Essendon meets with Greg Inglis

anyone really see Hird going for something like this?

reckon he will have more than enough on his plate for the next few years without dealing with afl wannabees (although there may be a few of those still hiding in our squad?)

Re: Essendon meets with Greg Inglis

We'd be better off trying to pick up a raw midfielder or ruckman. If Inglis tried his hand at AFL for any club, now, it would only be for something to do this winter until an NRL club and his management can get their s*** together.

His not being settled for an NRL club by now screams incompetence IMO. He clearly wants to play league.

Re: Essendon meets with Greg Inglis

Tell the fat *****er to piss off.
We just did! Both of them!

Oh, wait, Inglis.
My bad.

Can anyone say with a straight face he'd definitely be worse than Still, Neagle and Laycock?
Anyone?
If* we were able to get the AFL to put in half of his 600k, that's roughly the same money Laycock was on the last 2 years for 0 games.

*I believe A.D has ruled it out now. But as a hypothetical...

Re: Essendon meets with Greg Inglis

A guy who's never got himself fit or won a spot on form in 5 years; or a guy who's been a gun in a top-line sport for 5 years.

I'm pretty comfortable drawing a line through Neagle.

Re: Essendon meets with Greg Inglis

5 years of never being able to make the grade is better than 5 years of not only making, but setting (albeit an entirely different) grade?
Really?
Especially as a fitness guy.

To me, it's a definite "not fit enough", compared to a big maybe.
You take the possibility.

For Neagle's lack of fitness, which 5 pre-seasons of injuries contributes to, as well as poor mental application, you have Inglis' personal indescretions, as well as his peace poor attitude towards his very own sport, chasing the money and not being dedicated enough to put in at his new club, makes me not too keen on him. That and he's never played the game.
If it was a choice between Inglis or Neagle I would pick Inglis. He would bring in so much interest to the club which would be worth it.
This is what would sway me. The publicity and potential new sponsors/members.
