1- Stupid outlook re supporting Kangaroo Miller over a past captain of our club?

eg - Tiger Malthouse isn't a Magpie:rolleyes:

Others have met him(free) and seen the W.C.Fields side but i think the biggest and most astute concern is his credentials as a board member.

Need u be reminded of his success rate as a player.captain - very Frawleyesque.

Maybe he was hired to be a scapegoat but i doubt it.

The only Richmond people who would make a real difference are dead or senile from coaching the bum me offs for 27 years.

I'm open to hearing what Free can bring the club apart from pipe dreams based on the reputation of being a former captain who's career was cut short due to injury.

Fair call to question Free. Was always touted to stay at the club in a coaching capacity after he did his knee, but fell out over something or other and went into player management. Probably for money.

Been away a long time and suddenly back in the fold after doing nothing in footy.

But dont lose any sleep over Miller. He was given the keys when we gave him the board, and he didnt want to give them back.

He didnt want them to hire Cameron and he was undermining Jackson. The club cant grow if one guy wants it to revolve just around him.

There's only one way that can end.

im just disgusted with the way we again went about dismissing someone.

It shows that some things will never change.

At least show the guy some respect and wait till years end.....would show some class on our behalf too:).

Let's not overstate Miller's achievements. From 2002-2004, we were going nowhere. Signed Frawley to an extension, backed Casey and the drafting and list building was the same old shit as it had been before he arrived.

Most of the credit for rebuilding the playing list has to go to Wallace. Financially, it goes to Wright. Miller served his purpose well enough, but it's past time that he was replaced.

Really, I don't give a stuff about this news. Still buzzed from the win on Saturday and I honestly don't think this is a big deal. The media will enjoy having a go at us for a while (what's new?) but we're still in the race for the finals and the Miller situation isn't going to have any effect on that.
Spot on ranger.

perhaps , he too burnt his bridges at punt rd, only reason we didnt recruit his son was to keep him far away from the joint, pity really , he's not a bad player
Actually, the only reason we didn't recruit his son was that our first pick in the 2001 draft was no.33 (Rodan) and the dawks took brown with pick 32.

Miller said on the show that that was March's plan except someone leaked it early. Question is who was the someone....for mine only one someone who could possibly benefit from an early leak. Seems too coincidental that the news broke from a WA journo the week after we play West Coast over there.

I applaud Greg Miller for showing such dignity thru such an inglorious exit, a proud man that has been in the sun for a long time in this caper...He showed that he has some class. I concur with his comments that he leaves Punt Rd in better shape than when he started. Well done and Good Luck:thumbsu:

And to think I was talking to him on wed night at the cocktail party and now he's gone in a flash. I hope march has a good plan to replace him.

Over the years there have been a lot of GM detractors but a quick look at the facts and you will see that he has overseen the growth of our list from a laughing stock to one that offers more for the future on field than anything we have seen in 25 plus years.
I for one say a big thankyou Greg Miller
Below is a list of the players drafted since Miller arrived.
I may have it wrong but I cannot recall if he was in charge for the 2002 draft. My guess is that he was not.
I have marked players in bold that are still on the list and would be classed as a big part of our future and listed the players in Italic that have to cement a spot but have the goods to do it .

2006 13 Jack Riewoldt 26 Shane Edwards 58 Daniel Connors
60 Carl Peterson 73 Andrew Collins
2005 8 Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls 24 Cleve Hughes 40 Travis Casserly
2004 1 Brett Deledio 4 Richard Tambling 12 Danny Meyer
16 Adam Pattison 20 Dean Polo 36 Luke McGuane 52 Dean Limbach
65 Mark Graham
2003 21 Alex Gilmour 37 Thomas Roach 53 Daniel Jackson 64 Shane Morrison
70 Brent Hartigan 73 Shane Tuck 76 Andrew Raines
79 Simon Fletcher 81 Kyle Archibald
2002 12 Jay Schulz 41 Tim Fleming 47 Bill Nicholls 62 Daniel Sipthorp

Add to this list 2007
Trent CotchinAlex Rance
Dean Putt

And lets not forget the players that came via the rookie draft in this period.
Nathan Foley, Kelvin Moore, Will Thursfield, Jake King, and Angus Graham

Lets not forget the imports Brown McMahon and Morton

For comparison I have included the 6 years prior to Millers arrival.
2001 33 David Rodan 63 Adam Houlihan 68 Chris Hyde
77 Martin McGrath
2000 9 Kayne Pettifer 25 Mark Coughlan 40 Chris Hyde
2000 41 Andrew Krakouer 55 Chris Newman 57 Steven Sziller
1999 3 Aaron Fiora 22 Ezra Poyas 39 Scott Homewood
1999 52 Andrew Mills 78 Ty Zantuck
1998 40 James White 55 Marc Dragicevic 68 Matthew Greig 7 Ray Hall
1997 2 Brad Ottens 53 Lionel Proctor 69 Paul Greenham
71 Andrew Kellaway
1996 16 Pat Steinfort 35 Mark Chaffey 41 Mathew Manfield 55 Steven McKee
63 Jason Baldwin 72 Brent Frewen 79 Daniel Donati 91 Richard Rotstein

Sorry but there's a lot of duds and wasted picks on that list. Pasing on buddy probably led to his downfall IMO even though tambling is showing real signs now. What I'd give to have franklin lurking on our forward line these days. :(

Geez...with the odd exception, 2002-03 were horrendous!

i cant believe he was undermining jackson.
They are best mates and he slept on his coach every time his then current wife kicked him out, he did it three times, Danielle is his 4th wife I believe.

The interesting thing is will jackson hang around?

Dont let the facts get in the way of a good story.
