I think wandella can go alone, theyd have to join the Loddon valley though, they will always stay viable as alternative to kerang, it's so close to kerang.

Hay into picola, if our mate ever lets them in.

I think moula is to far away, what do Swan hill gain from a merger there, their not going to play a home game in moula.

Macorna could merge with pyramid or boort.

Should the golden rivers get on the front foot and try recruit Boga and nyah to their comp?

Wandella probably could go alone but she’s a fair trip for Loddon Valley footy not that I personally have an issue with blokes having to travel given what the get paid to play

It’s a decent trip for Marong, Newbridge, Bridgewater and Inglewood though

don’t get me wrong travel shouldn’t be the major factor but it is always something that clubs and people complain about
Many kerang people move to Bendigo as well, it would allow greater ability to hold onto players.

But it's a good hike for LV clubs, which traditionally don't travel far to play

But what do the established club's get out of it? They won't want to change their name, club colours or play home games away from their base it's not much of a win win for anyone

I thought I heard some whispers of wandella merging with Marcorna and joining the ncfl??

Wandella to Loddon Valley would be a good move. Existing clubs having to travel a maximum of just over an hour to play them once a season really shouldn’t be an issue. Any league in that direction will help with recruiting and retention also.
Wandella are in probably the best position as they could probably go to either NC or Loddon Valley. They could also look to someone like Quamby who would be in the right direction and help financially.

That be an interesting intra club practice match. I think Wandella would be more likely to merge with Quamby if anyone. Players already swap between the clubs a bit and socially the 2 clubs get along well.

Loddon Valley would be the best fit. It gives a different option when trying to recruit north of Kerang. If they go North Central they would be competing with Nully and Sea Lake for players and I don’t think they have the money to do that.

If, if they merged with Quamby then they would have the coin to contend with anyone considering their location.

Quambatook have already said that 2022 will be their last season. looking to go out with a flag, throwing a lot of money around for it aswell

What do you mean?
Well macorna joins cohuna, cohuna won't get hardly any players or supporters, they won't change their jumper colours or call themselves cohuna macorna United and they wouldn't play any games out at macorna, cohuna get nothing out of it and macorna are swallowed up never to be heard of again same as any golden rivers team that joins a strong central Murray team, look what happen to was it lakes/Rovers when they amalgamated with kerang

That’s why Wandella will never join Kerang. It would be a take over not a merger.

clubs are just going to have to do it of they want some sort of place in the future

I think someone said here earlier that quambatook plan for next year to be their last, Then surely 2022 will be the last year of the GRFL. Can’t see the league being viable with 6 teams. Didn’t the mallee get away with it for a few years tho? I’d imagine AFL VIC won’t let it happen again.

can’t go on with 6 clubs due to an AFL Vic rule these days I believe.

interesting that an old friend of mine who used to run AFL central rivers basically guaranteed the future of the Golden Rivers League a couple of season ago when most of us actually could see the writing on the wall

I can’t see that being the case now. I’ll guess and say you’d have a much better insider knowledge then me.

It’ll be a sad day when it happens. But they’re not the first nor last league in this situation.

A terribly sad day…such a great league and great clubs. I do really wish I did venture out for a kick to experience it

Yep that may have got you an extra 12 months on your suspension, wouldn't it have been better to have been open 2 years ago, and work on a solution for clubs rather than putting your head in the sand
