There was one centre bounce where he tapped it straight into the path of the great man who kicked it forward, took the hit and Welshy got a free kick down the field which he goaled. Brought tears to my eyes.

Bus24, you cannot say things like that.

Meesen was the best ruckman in the draft and is 20 years old FFS.

He likes Adelaide, will play some games this year as well.

Too be honest I haven't seen anything in Meesen to justify why we would have used a 1st round draft pick, and a top 10er, on him. I keep trying to invent things to hold my hat on but if we are honest, he has shown very little to date. Let's hope he's one of thos players ( Troy Chaplin ) who looks ordinary at SANFL and good at AFL level.

Maintain the faith .....ruckman on "average" are 4 year propositions .......now we thought Meesen would be ready year 2, it's now year 3 and injury has interupted in progress.

But seeing as most clubs that value ruckman have a min 4 on the list ......we are well positioned now to concentrate our recruiting priorities on midfielders / defenders.
That's great news as we can concentrate our efforts

Well the go home rumours are strong and my opinion is that he will depart back to Victoria. Especially now with Griff playing so well and Maric probably ahead of him in the pecking order.

Don't get me wrong, I hope he doesn't leave. Plenty of *insert naughty 'p' word*, but is way down the order at the moment.

ah, no he wont play senior footy this year and is well back in the pecking order...fergus watts now this putz.....high draft picks, DUDS and worth nothing on the trade table....

Fergus was actually a good prospect just a sook. He kicked 10 goals in a SANFL final and IMO we grossly under utilised his obvious talents.

Maric also signed a one year contract, does he want to go home too?

If he didn't get much game time then maybe. But isn't he going out with that basketball bird now? Probably making it less likely he'll leave.

When he is back from injury, he will play games this season. Doubtful that the same can be said of Meesen.

Should be back in 3 weeks. Will be interesting to see what happens.

If Meesen did end up leaving, we would receive a fairly high draft pick, possibly a later first rounder.

You'd hope so, but we are in no position to demand that. With Melbourne clubs to occupy the bottom spots again ( :D ) he can easily go for nothing in the PSD.

Pick 17 for Watts was nothing? It was a first rounder.

yeh, nah good call we actually robbed the saints there...he'll be delisted at the end of the year...DUD

hard to see us getting a 1st round draft pick for messe...

Don't underestimate whats some teams would give up; that are crying out for a ruckman with potential...ie Collingwood, Bulldogs, Geelong etc

Two words...

Hamish McIntosh.

Delisted

Never mind he was ravaged by a horrible leg/ankle injury.

The boy has talent and once the shaved ape retires, he'll get lots of gametime.

If he's planning to leave at the end of the year you'd think his prefered team would be Geelong, considering he's from Geelong.

I think Geelong would love to get their hands on him. Question being what would they be willing to give up, that we would accept.

Best situation for us if he wanted to go home, would be a team really chasing him hard, that doesn't have early PSD picks.

I'm not downgrading Griffen's efforrt, he was seriously good and will be a beauty for our club wherever he finishes up playing, but I've never been a member of the Everitt fan club. Useful at best.
AA selections and best and fairest wins disprove your theory ;)

Griff was sensational last night and he has shown that in time he has the potential to be one of the premier ruckman in the competition. His leap and tapwork (especially in the center square) is exceptional. Once he beefs up more, he will become much better at around the ground stoppages. Great skills and sgility for a bloke of his size. Played the best game so far against quality opposition and will only get better with more muscle and experience. We have a real gem on our hands here :thumbsu:

I was bagged at the start of the year when I said I didn't like Clarke and Biglands and I was glad they aren't playing for us this year. I expected Maric to fill the role but Griff has done the job instead and he has been great, he will improve a hell of a lot too. If we kept Clarke or Bigland wasn't injured (bad luck for the bloke I must admit) then Griff would still be in the SANFL and not developing his game as much as he has done so far this year.

Fergus was a mistake - if only because recruiting a kid whose father is a Board Member (or whatever) of another AFL Club just doesn't make any sense.

I love watching Griff, more for his general play efforts than his ruck work. I love seeing a big man like him who has the ability and desire to run and bounce with the ball in hand.

I think we will play Mees at some stage this year - either for his development within our club, or to try and establish him a little in the AFL so, if he does go home, we get value.
