Serong is OOC next year. Cox is contracted through to 2024.

There are no media reports that they are on $500k/yr.
Yeah I knew. Serong is out of contract next season. I knew someone had a crazy long contract until 2027 and it was Hayden Young and Chapman

Why do our west aust lads leave more than the Vic metro boys these days.
It's a weird trend.... With the WA Boys wanting to leave. I remember that 2002-7 era where we had Chris Connolly as coach, we mainly had WA guys wanting to return back to WA to play for Freo like Peter Bell, Des Headland, Jeff farmer , Troy cook and Matt Carr, Josh Carr and Luke McPharlin.

Hogan had off field issues.

Brad Hill went to the saints as his lady is from Victoria. Saints offered a bucket load of money.

Acres and Logue are leaving as they think they are undervalued

I've come to the opinion that all players are fully aware that they're only in the game for a relatively short time and they want to make as much dosh as they possibly can while it lasts and who are we to say that that's wrong.
I now have no issue with anyone leaving us - I wish them well.

Same but I also want to win a fi king flag before I die so I reserve the right to be a salty campaigner.

I wonder if Clarko sees similarities between Logue and Josh Gibson and is hoping for the same impact Gibson had when he moved to Hawthorn. They are both left footed, undersized key defenders moving clubs at similar points in their careers. I don't think Logue has the same footy "smarts" as Gibson, though.

Will Logue win us a premiership?
Your question is probably rhetorical but would any of Harmes, Spargo or Neal-Bullen win Melbourne a premiership? Probably not, but they all own a medal. Logue’s definitely good enough to play in a premiership side and I suspect there are more than a handful of AFL coaches that would see him as a very handy addition to their team. I think he’s a valuable player, for what it’s worth, and I don’t want to lose him.

I think in this era of bigger players Clarko sees Logue as a perfect Luke Hodge type, if Hodge was a rower that couldn’t kick.

Not necessarily but our annual turnover is too high. Seems like each year we lose someone decent that we’ve developed.

Of course you do.... But you gotta be patient mate.

Brayshaw is only 22 or 23 years old, Serong and Hayden young are both 21 years old.

Very good players now. Scary to think those blokes in their prime of 24-29 years old.

This. AKA make hay while the sun shines.

Some would know internally that they are on the fringe as far as players are concerned. One good season and a trade could really set them up. So, as I said, make hay while the sun shines.

I'm talking generally here not Freo specific.

AFL (or all sportspeople really) rely on their bodies for a living. They are always a serious injury from, well, you know... I just don't like saying that but it is the reality of pro sport.

Edit: Just realised this is the Logue thread. I thought I was in the general trade thread, my bad. There are just so many trade talk threads going on at the moment. Move or delete if needed.

I'm the 102nd member of Freo - I'm getting too old now to be patient!

He was a bad pick, that he's worth significantly less is on Freo(Lloyd & Bond?) for drafting poorly.

I don't think so. If Serong was out of contract and heading to North we wouldn't get much more than a F2. It's the reality of trading with the bottom team.
