Griff has set himself up for life, which is great.

Now North need to play him strictly as a glove defender, tell him to do nothing but spoil, totally blanket his opponent and if he has the ball in his hands he kicks sideways to the loose player.

A couple of years ago he was backing himself to take the intercept marks, and he's right to try because that's the difference between modest money and obscene money for a defender, but his hands are too hard - all he ended up doing was taking out his team mates, fumbling the marks and an opposition small swooped and goaled.

He plays strictly as a lock down defender and you don't need to worry about that tall forward impacting the game. It's 17-17 on the field and one of their best players is no longer in the game.

He has had his injury issues but that should be behind him as the surgery to fix that congenital issue in his foot which took him out for most of the first two years is resolved. He will need a good coffee and a cuddle every day and to tell him he is a giant of a man.

The hard hands improve with time. I remember thinking Rance had a rubber chest and hard hands. Logue will get better. I’m not sure who will be the better defender out of Pearce, Cox and Logue the next 5 years. All possibly AA level defenders. Wish our club had invested some capital in key forwards. Still reeling at using Neale picks to secure Hogan and Lobb. The decision to bypass Ben King or even Connor Rozee that draft seems crazy with hindsight.

In terms of where we would be if we did as you suggested, I'm starting to consider the Hogan deal right up there with the worst the club has done. Having a King running around with our current squad puts us squarely in contention next year.

That said, I understand why they went after Hogan so I'm not infuriated, just a little angry and more so at Hogan himself.

Yep, that’s exactly how we will play him. Him doing that, allows McKay to intercept more and Corr to be more offensive and play on a better suited opponent.

If only some supporter bases were as level headed and reasonable as you North blokes, after all youse have had to put up with, it’s commendable you guys are not miserable assholes.

Logue will be a great addition to your backline for years to come, expect him to be best 22 the rest of his career. Wouldn’t underrate Tucker either, will be a solid role player and a slight upgrade on your current midfield stocks.

The afl wouldn't care. The picks needed to bring in players (which they were) any extra bonus in a deal is part of it.

Agree, North probs could have swapped them both with WCE and taken a fringe player that might never played a game if push came to shove on deadline day.

North Melbourne and Fremantle completed the trade today after the duo requested trades to Arden St prior to the 2022 Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period.

The Kangaroos receive Logue, Tucker and a future third-round selection in exchange for a future second round (AFL special assistance), future third round (AFL special assistance) and a future fourth-round selection.

He'll dominate your VFL, he's basically Gablett Jnr at that level.

In AFL he drifts in and out of games in any position so I like him HHF (where everyone drifts in and out) because he kicks goals. He's serviceable in the middle.

He's best in the middle IMO, with where your list is at, using him as the third support / defensive mid (the Rowan Jones role) is probably best / the plan. He's the one Philips and Powell are told shouldnt be getting a game ahead of you, push him out.

Don't know if there's an answer. He never made a position own, hence being in and out of the side. He has an incredibly slow ball drop, so really needs space to do his best work, but he's built like an inside mid. Fyfe publicly gave him credit when he won one of his Brownlows as blocking opposition players for him, but you don't get picked in AFL as a blocker. Where you use him will be interesting.

This is pretty close to spot on IMO.

I have Philips fit easily in the team but that may take some time, Powell has plenty of talent but still not the build. If and when Tucker is pushed out that versatility forward will help round out a 23 and he will be great ready to go depth.
