Re: Griffen
Good points CM but the flipside of that is Freo can also use Melbourne as leverage. If Carlton don't play ball then Warnock goes to Melbourne. Carlton would be desperate to recruit another quality ruckman.
I think they may (should) give up there 1st rounder.
As for us, good to see we are keeping up our average of losing one player to the go home factor every year - disappointing.
If the pick 24 deal is done, then everyone wins accept us. Surely we wouldn't accept that, especially when we hold all the cards. One of the competitions promising young ruckman for next to nothing. If warnock is worth a 1st round pick then so is Griffin. We hold all the cards in this deal, lets see if we can hold our nerve.
Melbourne are very much in the frame. they are the leverage that his manager will be using to get Freo to accept a trade from Carlton.
Just like Carlton wasn't Nick Stevens first choice, Melbourne are far from out of the running. they are looming in the shadows ready to pounce in the same way.
what's more, Melbourne could also do a veale deal to convince Freo not to trade him to Carlton....
the demons are front and centre relevant here still.
