Re: Griffen

Warnock has to agree to the trade and to play for the Demons because he is uncontracted.

True, but if Fremantle aren't happy with the trade propsoal from your mob don't expect to see him at Tank Oval anytime soon.

Freo will have more of a say in this trade than you think. Melbourne will probably be pushing up his value, as they know if the trade doesn't get done he will be off to the PSD, where they have first pick ;)

You could almost cut it as an alias of mine.

Re: Griffen

yep. Before his injury, the signs were very promising. Because of his contract status, we are dealing from a position of strength, lets use it.

But as you said, i would much prefer if he stayed, doesn't sound good though.
Read Craigy's lips....Griffin is contracted next year and will not be traded. Neither will van Berlo so let's stop all this conjecture.

Re: Griffen

Adelaide gain: Pick 6 (Carlton), Pick 21 (Freo)
Carlton gain: Pick 10 (Crows), Warnock
Fremantle gain: Griffin, Pick 37 (Carlton)

Adelaide lose: Pick 10, Griffin
Carlton lose: Pick 6, Pick 37
Fremantle lose: Warnock, Pick 21

Fair or too biased?

I really like this deal. Freo would need another 3rd or 4th round pick to sweeten their deal. but all in all i think this is a clever trade...

Craig was absolutely adamant about that thank goodness. :thumbsu:

He (correctly) said that both these players are an important part of our future.

He even went one step further when he said that Griffin was telling him that he was happy to be staying with the Crows.

All the trigger happy traders can now put their firearms away until the next one. :D

What tripped me out was some people on here were saying "let's trade Gridd for a young up and coming ruck"......um.....Griff?

He'd definately be in my future 22.

I see Maric, GriffIn, TippetT and Moran all in our squad

Re: Griffen

Which is exactly what I said? That's the only relevance the demons have, the threat of picking him up for free if Carlton and the Dockers fail to agree to terms. They won't ever be a part of the negotiations.

its not what you said, and you're wrong - they will be in the thick of negotiations.

Re: Griffen

In a way this is good news for us. Griffin wants to leave but is contracted and Femantle BADLY need a back up ruckmen.

We want to be aggresive. How about we go after Gibbs.

Griffin to Freo
Warnock to Carlton
Our second round pick and Mackay to Carlton
Gibbs to Adelaide

So we trade Griffin Mackay and Second round pick for Gibbs.

Gibbs will be a franchise palyer for us and IMO would be worth the above.

Would Carlton accept that? I don't know. Thoughts?

Gibbs just finished top 5 in Carlton's B&F in his 2nd season, and is really looking the goods; he aint going anywhere.

no he doesn't. he won't be traded to melbourne now, but he could let through to the psd via trade.

I doubt Fremantle would be as fickle as Port were in the Stevens trade and not play ball by screwing a young kid over in trade week. Especially since Essendon were pricks last year when they asked for a late pick for Bradley who was on the way out in the first place. A dog act when they didn't even want Bradley and forced him into the draft wilderness because they tried to get a pick above his worth.

blah blah blah... Freo don't have to deal with you, unless they feel you offer fair value. end of.

Sorry, but no, no they won't. Sure, the name will be thrown around by both parties as threats, but Melbourne just won't be at the table, unless Fremantle decides to pull one of those dubious "we won't if you won't" draft pick pledges with the Demons.

We know the media is bad but this year they just seem to be making sh*t up. Their sources seem to be coming straight from the BF trading board.

Great news about Griffin.:thumbsu:

I think its time to go fishing, its getting crazy.

It wasn't quite as pathetic and stupid as the Ben Rutten wants out theory last year.

Nothing will ever top that:thumbsdown:!

Re: Griffen

The only way I'd consider trading him to that dirty mob would be if it got us Haselby or Pavlich.

Jackster,
Haselby has plenty of talent, but has a huge question mark over his future as he has a very bad back. I've heard that the prognosis isn't great either, and he may have a very limited future in footy at AFL level.

But I could be wrong...;)

I'd be very wary of trading for him though.

Wary??

Not interested is the correct answer, tinny. :)

He's a rising 27 year old who does have a bad back.

I don't think we have a great demand for one of those.

I was just being a bit more diplomatic ;)

Agree we would pass on him - can't believe that anyone would mention him as a potential trade

the moment you use the word unless, you contradict yourself entirely.

might be best to take a breath and think about what you're posting.

Richmond actively engaged WCE last year about veale dealing Judd to them, to the point they started complaining in the media about how their offer was higher than what carlton offered. (arguable, but the point holds).

Re: Griffen

as i said - he could be better placed to improve given the fact he's a year younger, taller and heavier.

why is that nonsense?

none of those things have sweet flock all to do with his footy ability and potential.

younger does not make him a better player or increase his potential
taller does not make him a better player or increase his potential
heavier does not make him a better player or increase his potential.

what matters is how he plays the game, and griffin has done far more on the field.
