Just wanted to build up the Griff a bit in anticipation of tomorrow nights blockbuster!

I think the Sex Monster is about to explode... Round 1 was a wake up call from the depths of the Valley of Coburg... Round 2 was his first experience as an actual AFL footballer but one can't be expected to dominate too much on debut... Round 3 reinforced his debut and enlightened the coaching and fellow players to a unique set of skills not seen in our lifetime...

Round 4... The Sex Monster... his first 20+ hitout game playing a third of his game in the ruck, his aggression at the contest results in 5 tackles and 3 HTB decisions, and a concussion to Nick Maxwell, His hard work around the ground nets him 10 marks however none inside the forward 50... Yet he stil manages to kick 7 goals from set shots... Sex Monster!

Can we play him at full back for last q I'm sure he will go ok and learn a bit and I just want someone that can clear the ball. Hopefully he can run around man on mark, or (Steve can block) and he kicks it to CHF and Vikers marks it.

Then I'd like to see how Jack goes in the ruck

Further Griff love but does anyone actually think this forward could become a gun ruckman. He's 200cm, athletic and is building some cannons, and his ruckwork improves with every game... We might have a sensation on our hands.

I reckon we should be using him as first kick from kick ins... If he takes it between 25-50m.... 1 kick and we are forward half of the wing if not close to the 50m.

Ty has kicked twice as many goals, and that is the core measure of a KPF. However Griff has done his role very well and is definitely in the top half of our performers this year. I'm not hard pressed to say that Griff has been better this year. He's been better by a fair margin. I'll start by saying that I don't want TV dropped (yet) because you're right, he's still managing to kick goals. But his goals tally is papering over a lot of other big cracks in his game. Namely his defensive efforts and his lack of game sense at times. His decision to go third man up on multiple occasions late in the game against Dogs resulted in a free against and another was a tap into space that the Bulldogs cleared when he would have been better off staying around the contest and trying to help bottle it up to kill time (we were in front at that time)

An interesting stat from League teams last night comparing Vickery and Riewoldt when targeted forward.
Riewoldt targeted 21 times (9th in AFL) Vickery 26 (3rd in AFL)
When targeted, Jack won the contest (marked or kept the ball in the area) 48% of the time, Vickery just 26%
This resulted in a score 48% of the time when targeting Jack, only 32% when targeting Vickery.
When the ball hits the ground when Jack is around, the danger is far from over for a defender. When in Vickery's vicinity, he can become a passenger.

Griffiths may have kicked half the goals of Vickery but he has been much more valuable to this point. He has taken a league high 9 contested marks and that still doesn't highlight the importance of many of them, the one in the last minute against Carlton being the best example. He's also averaging 9 hitouts a game (Vickery 3) and 5 tackles a game (Vickery 2).

I'm sure Vickery will get better and I hope it's tonight. If all three of him, Jack and Griff have a sizeable impact, it will mean we have won the game.

Happy enough with what you say. The good thing is Jack and TV can and should improve on what they have been offering up. The bad thing is what they have been offering up (altough I'll take a guy not playing well and kicking 2 goals). And as Griff gets more used to being a genuine AFL KPF and the rest of the team gains confidence in him then it gets even better.

A few ifs there, but then I'm a glass half full type of guy.

Very , very good points johnno77 , Just putting this out there.... Is it worth TV spending some time with Chocco ???? Cos I think he'd hold him very accountable in all aspects of the game, just a thought.

What you said initially was he was languishing in the 2 and you would be surprised if he went home. I took it, that he isn't happy he isn't getting a game, sooking it, and wants take his bat and ball and going home.
