Roast Grigg

Oh for heavens sake! Get your facts right ffs.

Sorry but im sick of this shit. Matt White played with us for NINE YEARS, Pick the games and total them out that he was "A good winger. Some on-field dash, some speed, some flair, some bloody goals!". Go on count them. Matt White LEFT the club, he was not let go, people need to understand this. Did we delist Matt ? No. he was a free agent, he LEFT for more coin then what we could offer based on his output from his NINE years.

Matt could have repaid the faith but he CHOSE not. Lets let this bullshit of we letting matt white go alone.
Matt white was let go for 30k a year
And a longer contract
We could of kept him but DH wanted to keep his loyal servants and pick up other duds like Hampson at the expense of a sec rd pick
Sorry we allowed White to walk out over 30k so get it right

"Unfortunately gigg slips over... thems the breaks"

"Grigga actually played a decent game, unfortunately he had 3 shots on goal and kicked zero, three... he'd usually nail them"

Dimma's desection 20/05/14

Lids must of had another talk to Dimma about his bestie Grigg .

Well move to Alberton
The cost of living for a couple is$30k less per year
Plus you can say hi to Matty for me and steal Hinkleys training methods and pass them onto DH
The rfc spy:)

.. and Dimma seriously does not know what is going on ? I'd love to know HOW Dimma can describe another Grigg shocker as "a decent game". He missed three shots a goal an AusKicker would nail. Get serious !

There is no way Grigg will be playing seniors this week. He epitomizes the problems with the playing group. Lazy, unskilled and disinterested.

Thanks for the Haku mate.

Honestly though, you mentioned his loyalty before. Would you throw that loyalty away for 30k ? Keep in mind you have been at the Tigers for Nine years, you have had some body issues aka hamstrings and the club stood by you without delisting you time and time again, so your love and loyalty for the club was so so strong, you would tug the jumper after every goal...now with all that would you throw that away for 30k ?

have backed Grigg up over the stretch and can now say, we cant keep playing players of his ilk if we are wanting to mix it. Just to fragile in the mind and just to light in the body to be able to be deemed anything more than a plodder who might be able to play a few games for a bottom 4 team that requires a cheap experienced resource to fill a hole. Thats about it..if Dimma thinks otherwise, he can go and coach that team thats in the bottom 4...oh wait!!!

Geez imagine how good lids would be if he didn't look for Grigg every 2nd kick. Also Grigg's possession rate would halve. It would be win win

Hardwick isn't wrong

Grigg had 9 Contested Possessions, 5 clearances, 6 tackles and 3 shots on goal

He slots those goals, he's in the best and we probably win

People have stereotyped Grigg and when he does do the things that reinforce that stereotype people add it as evidence, completely ignoring all the things he does that break that stereotype. He did some poor things, but of the 22 he did a lot less poor things than many others and right now Hardwick would actually be stupid to drop him

That's not saying Grigg will take us forward but you can't build a side around 21 year olds

Interesting.
How do you know these things, are you White's manager, part of his family or one of his BFF's?
And when did Dimma inform you that he was prepared to sacrifice MW for $30G, and confirm that he wasn't a loyal servant & that others were?

I dont like Grigg but even I realise we need a kid to push him out of his position. its sad but unfortunately we dont have a kid to take his spot like mcDonough did by taking pettereds.

Agree, my issue was is selfishness in having those 50/50 shots when at his experience level he should have tried first to lower his eyes and see if anyone was free instead of blazing away but other then that he lead the way in pressure and run.

Probably, but he's certainly slotted those shots in the past

And it's hard to complain about Grigg when his were all on the run compared to everyone else that was missing set shots

GC , GWS ?

GC , GWS ?
GC - 13 players under 21, side was built around Ablett and other mature players taken from other clubs
Av Age in last game - 23 years 3 months
Av Games in last game - 60.6

GWS - 19 players under 21, side went the young player route and was getting destroyed, finally brought in mature players this year to complement their younger kids and they’re competitive
Av Age in last game - 22 years 5 months
Av Games in last game - 45.3

Richmond - 10 players under 21
Av Age in last game - 24 years 3 months
Av Games in last game - 79.5

Hawthorn - 13 players under 21
Av Age in last game - 25 years 2 months
Av Games in last game - 86.8

Information I don’t have to complement that is number of first round draft picks in those teams

Grigg, for all his faults, has finished in the top 10 of our B&F for the last 3 seasons:

10th in 2011
5th place in 2012
9th in 2013

Now he is no world beater, but added depth to a squad that was missing blokes of his age group. Was a great pick-up, but has probably served his purpose and is reaching the end of the road you'd think...

This would be by far the most sensible comment yet made on this subject in my view. He's done well for the Tigers, he was a good pick up at the time but he's not doing as well at present so his situation has to be reviewed. Unless he can play a part like he did in previous years then we should replace him. But ceratinly give him an opportunity in the two's to try to find what he is lacking. That would be win/win.

The biggest problem with Grigg IMO is that most other guys who play a similar role to him across the AFL have low to mid 70's disposal efficiency rate whereas his is at 69%. 3 or 4 % might not seem like much but last year and in 2012 when we ran in 72 or 73% or above we would win games when we dropped below 70% we struggled.

I'm not a Grigg fan, never really have been and I'm quick to jump on get rid of him bandwagon (often unfairly i'll agree) but 2012 he was exceptional. That should be the standard he sets on himself and if he isn't as that level he needs a run in the twos to remind him what is required. I think he is a player that needs a kick up the bum not a pat on the back

The issue with his misses on the weekend was that he is one dimensional. All 3 times, he took to much time to settle for the shot and by that time, he was under the pump to get it off quick. His lack of composure is a concern, others with a bit more, would have tried to work out a way to evade the pressure to make it a sure thing, Grigg just slung the ball to boot in hope...that is where he is not cutting the mustard IMO.

If he slotted the goals he'd have a disposal efficiency of 83% for the game. A behind is that 4%, it's silly and you're definitely right that's where he needs to be.

How do you drop Grigg when other players aren't performing well enough either, you can't drop him while saying you need to get your performance back up to how you were in 2012 and not drop anyone else that has been the same. And if you did do the same then you're making 18 changes. You want to be consistent otherwise it's not sending a message to the player, it's picking on the player and all that will do is make them feel rejected and not want to be a part of the team. This might be what some supporters want but in any management or leadership position is completely the wrong attitude to have. Grigg has clearly addressed some of the deficiencies he has had in his game this year, someone like Vickery that hasn't needs to be dropped.
