Has done a reasonable job since we got him from Carlton. Has provided run, some tagging and some goals....

This was all before 2014. It is clear he needs to replaced in the team for now and on the list as soon as we can.... and in the VFL until he is cut.

Grigg might be a part of our best 22 but I don't think that entitles him to a game. A spell in the VFL side would be a fresh reminder that he isn't a walk up start to the team. This season he has just looked lazy and complacent. Of the 3 misses in yesterday's game, from where I was sitting, it looked like he had options to pass to a teammate but decided to blaze away instead. When the team is struggling, its natural for players to go into their shells and start looking out for themselves. IMO, this kind of behaviour needs to get stamped out to make an example of. I doubt Dimma will pull the trigger though.

His spot in our best 22 ended at the start of last year yet he keeps dishing up the same tripe week in week out and is excused for it by the match committee. I don't think he is playing any worse footy than last year or the year before. It's just how he is unfortunately.

He was offered good coin for 3 years. As a 27 year old fringe player, you gotta take that offer.

Were you one of the posters that were tearing down this forum when he signed with Port? I know many wished him all the best but can't remember any bleating like your post above.

Couldn't agree more , shite coaching in Dimmas behalf. It makes the players lose respect for him by not dropping players so Badley out of form

When he fell over during the match (as in that gif), I actually stood up in disgust, walked to the fridge, grabbed a drink, sat outside for 5 minutes and then came back inside to watch the rest of the game.

The very definition of "passenger". Player a cracker against Brisbane, but has done nothing apart from that game. Is soft, but has tackled in his last 2 games, so something has been said to him. What I HATE - He will sit on the opposite side of the play and wait for the switch. If we don't have the ball, he will walk to the other end of the ground, totally dismissive of the opponents that may run past him and eventually be part of a chain of handballs etc. He will then make his way back to the wing for a centre bounce, and against Melbourne, he was IGNORED by the opposition in two centre bounces. He can't kick, can't tackle and has a habit of stopping, propping and then handballing to another player under pressure - "here you are - it is YOUR problem".

A spell in the VFL will remind him he is really a fringe player at the moment and offers nothing in a team that is underperforming. Who knows, he might return to his 2012 form where he was tagged, impacted the scoreboard and was a deadly kick into the forward 50.

Not our biggest problem at the moment, but he needs a kick up the behind, instead of falling on it !

Add Vickery and you have 4 very soft footballers in the side and we can carry only 1 or 2. For me that would be Houli and Edwards because they bring more to the table... just.

In the defence of those guys, I don't think they were necessarily 'soft' on the weekend, more just clumsy/lacking in skills as Robbo mentioned in his tackle this morning. (Grigg had 5 tackles, Houli 3, Titch 6 and Vickery 5). I do agree though that we can't carry all 4 when the team is struggling. I said earlier in the season we had a lot of downhill skier types who don't stand up when the game is there to be won. We lack onfield leadership throughout the side sadly.

Agree. The following need to go back to the VFL and demonstrate the following:

Grigg- play two ways, strong tackling and accountability. He's one way and it costs our team.

Hampson- has to be able to take a mark in this game.

Vickery - run to contests and demand the ball. The amount of times we kicked long to smaller players because Vickery didn't present is ridiculous. May need to work on his ruck technique if he wants a spot in the side.

It's not about possessions, hitouts or goals for these guys at this level, and if they are dropped they shouldn't be measured on those outputs.

That's the point though. Are we not dropping him because of past years when he was playing well? I can understand him starting the year in the seniors and surviving the first month or so, but it's 9 weeks in and he hasn't done anything worth keeping his spot

Grigg's role is to be an outside link up wingman, who breaks the lines, carries the ball, draws opponents, and dishes it off to the overlap, or hit a leading forward with a pin point 50m pass. to play this role, you need speed, the ability to run both ways, and a roost that can hit a teammate on the tit from 50m away.
Grigg cannot do any of those. Therefore, he is redundant.
look at the better outside players in the comp, they can all do this, Grigg cant. He does give his all, but its not enough anymore. Mcdonough is going to be a better outside player by the end of the year.
