We would be wise to play Grigg and not Hadley if that's our best team.

GC or not.

Grigga is more versatile and athletic than Hadley.

Please don't go Grigg, don't really know why he would want to leave a team on the edge of a great era.

On the Grigg GC17 rumour here is what I have been told. That there is some concern that he may have a deal with them but it's not confirmed and not the reason he is out. The MC's concern re Grigga related to poor defensive skills, poor disposal, and very poor overhead.

Hope he sticks around. Looks a likely type when fit.

Plus, according to the brains trust at Hawthorn, you need a fair percentage of left footers to win a flag. At the moment left footers at Carlton are as rare as rocking horse shit, so best we hang onto the lad.

That's right I forgot about him (Johnson).

So we have Simpson, Johnson and Griggson as our lefties. Might need a few more in the elite category if we're to shake the top end of the ladder.

grigg either has signed to the GC or something like that or is waiting for a Judd, simpson, murphy, gibbs or scotland to get injured.

Or maybe he has been told to work on certain aspects of his game and he has not reached his KPI's yet so can't be considered. Just because someone gets plenty of the ball, does not mean they are doing everything the coach has asked.

Cutting off your nose to spite your face imo. Big difference between a pick in the 20s and one in the 40s.
If you were talking about Gibbs or Murphy then you'd have a point, but even with Grigg in good form, he doesn't add a heap to the team. No huge loss to leave him out.

Pretty sure Ratts said a couple of years back, each game our kids play is an investment in the future of the CFC.

Why invest in something that isn't part of that future? It's not like he is the difference between winng a flag this year.
If he had signed, sorely we'd be pumping the games into him to secure better compensation from the AFL?
Unless he did something miraculous like win the B&F or finish AA or top 5 in the Brownlow it wouldn't make much difference........

.....although the coaches could pick him, vote him "BOG" every week and make sure he wins the B&F.

If Ablett was only going to secure pick 26, it's a moot discussion anyway. We'll end up with a 3rd round pick.

Listen in this proffesional age, Carlton would know if he has signed for GC. So if Carlton come up to him and his manager and say there are rumours that you have signed for GC.
And if he has he has straight out LIED to them, and should F**k off and good riddiance.

If he hasn't the the MC are not happy with aspects of his game, and there are players in front of him. To me i think he has great potential and can develop into something really good. If he has anothe blinder in the twos and is not picked the something is terribly wrong.

Thanks EP. I'll trust your word on this seeing as you appear to be among our most reliably informed.

Grigg is a casualty of our aggressive midfield recruiting strategy as far as I can tell - overtaken by gun recruits and sadly not quite there moving forward.

I liked him too, but wish him a long and successful career at GC if that's where he's going. He was a loyal and effective servant and deserves respect for at least that.

and BINGO was his name...............:cool::thumbsu:

Yeah, just to confirm. The last time I heard anything was during the Pre season (which was obviously a while ago now). There was no signing as far as I was told, but there were incentives that he wanted in order for him to move up. My source said he was pretty intent on leaving at the time, but he's got a whole year for that to change I suppose. I guess him not getting a game would not be doing his chances of staying any good.

If grigg cant get a game because he has limitations why did the club recruit Mclean, crazy stuff.

I'll buy into the Grigg debate and say this: Don't compare him to Mclean.

Mclean has limitations but he'll bleed out there for the Navy Blue.
I am not so sure that Grigg does and the reason I say this is after good observation in the off-season.
Whilst Mclean was putting himself into every contest and coaxing and coaching the young guys, Grigg just does what he has to do to get a pass mark.

Right now Mclean would be in pain for him not being in our senior squad, but I am far from comfortable of being able to say the same for Grigg.

Yes, this is an observation from a distance but one that kept coming back to me, enough for me to question Griggs integrity.
The guy has the ability to be a regular 22 player yet it may be he himself who is holding that back, from being the case.

Well I think he has signed for the GC or at least has a deal with them, after all the reports of him smashing it in the reserves he still can't get a look in. Seems like the coaching staff know the story, becoming more and more obvious that he has done something, which is a pity.

Smashing it in the reserves??? Source?? I read he got a lot of the ball but his disposal and effectiveness was still questionable. Finding the ball is only half of the equation.....has he improved on the deficiencies highlighted by others?
