Grimes looking elsewhere?

Deserves another shot. Carried you guys for a while there when Trengove clearly wasnt ready for the captaincy. Always seemed a back pocket type and to me is more talented than jetta.

There wouldn't be any sensible Melb Supporter that would play Grimes instead of Jetta. Grimes has been unlucky this year not to play a game but think its pretty clear the coaching staff at Melb have moved past him and he will have to find another team for next year.

Yeah fair enough, but as an outsider looking in if the crows didnt have luke brown or rory laird id be looking squarely at grimes to play as a lock down type well before jetta.

I admire your support of Grimes but the bolded is insane. Jetta is one of the best lockdown small defenders in the comp. He's regularly dominated Betts, Wingard and nearly all of the most dangerous small forwards in the comp. Enormously underrated outside of the Dees.

No one is more talented than good old Jetta.
We don't count Gawn because he just isn't human

Grimes is a better mark than Jetta, probably a better spoiler as well
Jetta is better at ground level in every way and doesn't turn the footy over as often

Crap player, won't be sorry to see him go.

You all are too sentimental.

He got a good pay cheque, I'm sick of mediocre players in Melbourne.

While Grimes might be capable of sneaking into our best 22 he is hardly going to be missed. Grimes best footy was before his captaincy when he was a good intercept mark with lousy disposal. Ever since they tried making him a midfielder he has gone backwards.

Short memory. Pre-captaincy his disposal was anything but lousy. He was more or less living up to his draft number. Then along came Neeld and the rest is history. The next 9 weeks should tell us how redeemable his AFL career is.

I'm glad the majority of supporters have the sense to realise footy is more than treating the players as pawns. Getting Grimes to 100 is the right thing to do from a number of different angles, not least of which, his form warrants it. Listening to Roos recently, I'm a lot more confident the club will get him there.

I'd generally agree with not owing the players anything but Frank is a different circumstance
He and Trenners helped carry the club threw possibly the worst period it may ever have again and both of their careers suffered as a result

Maybe lousy is too strong a word but his kicks certainly weren't great. His kicks lacked penetration & he would always kick under the ball making them stay airborne too long.

JG: This whole club is insane! Insane I tell you!
I can be lazy too. Look at me. I can be a worthless player too. Just like Heritier Lumumba! Give me a Contract!
I'm mourning the loss of someone I've never met but nobody minds.
I bomb it long to no one. Give me a raise! Now the ball is coming back & my opponent is loose but it doesn't matter because I'm Heritier Lumumba!
I don't need to man up on my opponent because someone else will do it for me!
HL: Hey are you Okay Grimey?
JG: I'm better than Okay. I'm Heritier Lumumba.
HL: Hehe You wish.
JG: Oh hi Roosy. I'm the worst footballer in the world!. Time to go home to my mansion & smoke my ganja.
Oh Whats this? Viney running towards me. Well, I don't need to get out the way because I'm Heritier....

Pretty unfair considering Garland went out and then came back in without having done anything to deserve it
Plus someone like Oliver who is a a good kid but is only getting games on potential it's a bit rough on the bloke
Oliver has shown way more than Grimes has. He's harder at the ball, decision making is better, as soon as his hands hit the ball they are free to use the ball, and he hasn't really been tackled. Grimes has shown to be the polar opposite as of late.

Oliver also goes missing for 3 quarters and is useless once the ball gets more than a meter away from the stoppage
They aren't playing the same position anyway

I hope he gets half a dozen games to show his wares, either to us or his next club. I think his biggest issue is his lack of composure. Just seems to really fail under pressure. That pressure has only grown now that he's not a regular member of our side. He has to do everything right or he's out on his ear.
I hope we do the right thing and trade him to Richmond. Probably get SFA, third rounder best case I'd reckon.

FA isn't he?

I reckon the wash up from the Tigers' season means they will be doing a lot of work at the draft and avoiding picking up other clubs' players.
Could be wrong and Grimes may be the exception...
