Grimes wrecked?

Was anyone else unfortunate enough to catch that ludicrous segment on the coverage before the game where they had a camera with him for the drive home and he was talking about how bad he felt about dropping a mark against Collingwood? Nobody needs this tosh. First thing he does against Hawthorn is runs under he ball and gives his opponent a more or less uncontested mark. Hopeless.

How do you get out of bed in the mornings?

BTW Grimes aint wrecked, he's just lacking confidence at the minute. Kept Gunston very quiet in an onslaught. I'm confident he'll fight back, he's got great character and can play.

Agree. But I think we just need to give him time. Playing him at vfl to gain confidence would be great. However I think Chaplin needs to go first. He's offering nothing whereas grimes is at least defensively stopping his man.

This - Grimes is coming from a lot of injury issues, getting confidence back will take time

the talents still there, just need to be patient

If some joker wanted me to talk on camera to a national television audience about all the mistakes I'd made at work that day, would I think, yes, that's a cracking idea, let's give it a go? No, I wouldn't.

hope he can get back to where he left off because he was one of the brightest stars in our team before injury got the better of him.

as everyone said, confidence in himself, and players around him, definitely limiting his output.

I agree, it seems to be the new gamestyle thats affecting most players atm.

I think Im one of the few but I think Grimey is going along ok, not often beaten and if not for a few missed marks (unlike him) he would be playing well.

I agree. I can see him improving each week and I can still see a place in the best 22 for him. Gunston was pretty well held - Grimes is not our problem at the moment.

I agree with those saying Chaplin should make room for Rance rather than Grimes, but I know he won't.

I wouldn't be dropping him. He is a gun and we all know it...give him as much time as he needs in the 1's to get it right. It's not like we have a heap of quality to bring in from the VFL. We aren't going anywhere this year anyway, would prefer one of our better young players gets time to get his game going.

Was pretty good defensively I thought against the Hawks.

he at least looks like he cares which is probably more than what can be said for a few of his team mates unfortunately - with that attitude he definately will get better and is one of the least of our concerns

To be honest and it hurts to say as one of his previous backers, he should be dropped.

A few years back, he was one of our best defenders by far - totally lacking confidence to kick the ball.
Needs to take the game on and provide run.
We can't have Astbury, Chaplin and Grimes together when these 3 won't take the game on offensively and opposition are prepared for them to get the ball deep and sit off them. Then the opposition need only to man up the other 3 backs to stop our run out of there and we ended up kicking down the line and it's killing us. Hence we are missing Rance, as he takes the game on offensively. So one of these 3 have to go when Rance comes in.

Very true unfortunately Grimes most likely the one to go at the moment......

It's looking that way which is a loss for us, as Grimes has the ability (when firing) to play on talls and smalls, more so than Astbury who is looking more comfortable by the week taking on the bigger opponents.
I'm not sure that the balance of Astbury, Chaplin and Rance will work either, unless Astbury starts to take the game on like Rance does. We need at least 5 of them down there that can attack from defense (Chaplin is a write off in this area and opp clubs know it). I hope it we work something out quickly, re the balance of players defending and attacking from the back half.

Perhaps Hardwick instructed the team to kick long to the line so as to not risk a turnover in the middle and see the Tigers cut up on the rebound?
This is always the standard default kick that all clubs play. The problem with us at the moment is there is no player with the 'intent' to run through the middle or the fat side of the ground which is more damning. Clubs now understand this, and set up with players in the area, similar to clarko's cluster.

My guess is it was a Jeep promo. Might have been better to film it after a WIN.

Im very happy to be proven wrong.

But how can Rance be our messiah,it wasn't long ago ,he was being bagged for tripping over a blade of grass.

I agree he needed a spell. I noted on here a few weeks back he seemed gittery with the ball. I have found myself thinking the worst eery time he has touched it this year.

I hope he gets that confidence back. He may even be a little scared to break the lines and get his run on due to his hammys. there could be a multitude of issues.

I do agree with most of the posters that he is not alone when it comes to having confidence issues.
