Well done to the Blue and White for getting the win, dominated most of the play, but they should be spewing that they didn't make the most of it, because they could have easily scored 4 or 5 goals.

Good signs for Argentina though...

Far from convincing, Argentina's finishing looks like shit, especially Messi. If he's the best player in the world, then he should know when he's supposed to fire a bullet along the ground. Tonight he kept trying to jab it in the air which the Nigerian keeper just ate up. Also still can't believe Maxi was in the squad instead of Cambiasso...

Speaking of Nigeria, Oche is an absolute spud.

I don't think Argentina played that well. A lot of the time they just gave the ball to Messi and watched him do his thing, which is fine for the group stages but will be ineffective later on. They could really use a Riquelme type in their midfield, Veron was poor.

Thats what I was thinking, they would be spewing if they did.

I suppose you could say it's better to get the kinks and finishing jitters out in the group stages (when you can still manage a win against weaker opposition) than have them carry over into the latter part of the tournament, when it matters most.

As you said though, good signs for La Albiceleste. They'll capitalise on those chances soon enough.

Something slightly off-topic - Was Roger Milla (in 1990) really the first person to celebrate a goal by dancing, or is that just some rubbish that Coke have made up to sell their drink?

Spot on.

Messi is an out out and out champion, I love when he runs at the defense should have had 3 goals Messi, but that Nigerian keep is a star, some brilliant stops. If it wasn't for him Nigeira would have got hammered 4 - 0.

The Nigerians keepers stops werent impressive. It was his positioning. World class reading of not only the game but his opponents. Knew where Messi was gonna hit it everytime. Any boob with gloves can pull out a wonder save and have a game of this life but in fairness to him it was more than just a good game. It was a smart game too.

after listening to their anthem on the World Cup game, I have decided Argentina has the greatest national anthem in the world. it's ****ing epic.

From an Everton perspective, I thought Yakubu had a good game. Didn't have great support or balls to him but he made the back two of Argentina work hard when he had the ball into his feet. One of his passes in the first half was just awesome, as well as his cross to Oche, who spurned it.

Yobo was serviceable, but still has the odd brain fade.

did anyone see in the 68th minute where the Argentine player smashed the ball into a Nigerian players hand in the penalty box and it went out for a corner. Shouldn't it be a penalty?

Or am i missing something, that i dont know?

Ball to Hand, not Hand to ball. It was kicked by the Argentine into a Nigerian and then ricocheted into another Nigerians arm.
