Always start slowish.
Paraguay are a good side, beat brazil and the argies in qualifying.

Man whats all the hate for?

Just been a troll, He wouldnt even know that they beat Brazil and Argentina, he doesnt understand much about the game only looks at scores. He has to be up for school soon

Oh dear, the italians are back.

The World cup is a far different case to qualifying. Plus don't give me the slow-starters rubbish. Italy busted their arses to win that toward the end and couldn't score. If they can't do it against Paraguay, the bigger and better teams will easily hold strong.

Not to mention, they got their only goal due to a shit goalkeeping error.

Everyone says Italy are notorious for being slow starters, even when they win the world cup, you hate them that much, but love Yidspur? logic?

Ok for you they are dead meat after 1 game, you can be happy.

Its ok for you and the other Aussies you can dig out your England jerseys and whack em on as soon as Aus goes out.

LOL at the haters... haters gonna hate...

Strong finish by gli Azzuri, deserved more in the end, but hopefully Di Natale will start next game with 2 up front, we looked a lot more potent with this formation at the end. Not happy with the draw all things considered, but I guess it could be worse, you could get your pants pulled down and r*ped 4 nil in the opening match... that would be embarassing...

They never take the initiative against good teams, this has nothing to do with me "not liking them".

hahaha mate no offence but what utter crap. Watch the 2006 semi final against germany if you want to see initiative against good teams.

Also LOL at grandblue. How did the socceroos go on the weekend??

Why has this become Italy v Aus? Who gives a shit. People want to see entertaining football and Italy rarely produce that these days.

It's a joke you can't say anything negative about the Italian team without someone accusing you of hating italy.

Its got nothing to with hating Italy or even being negative about Italy. I think most Italian supporters (me included) wouldnt give gli azzurri much of a chance of getting past the quarter finals this world cup. What is a joke is being overtly negative about Italy without backing it up, and what is even more of a joke is the seeming inability of some people to get over the Italy v Australia match in 2006. You would honestly think the way some people carry on that the socceroos were the only country ever to be knocked out of a world cup in controversial circumstances.

Some people here know very little about football. Firstly I bet Italy were quite happy with a draw. They out played Paraguay who traditionally have a good defence and were very impressive in qualifying. Italy are also notoriously slow starters

Seriously sick of Paraguays success at set pieces, ****ing play infront you w***ers.

Italy were fantastic though. FINALLY a well coached team

LOL the way some people are carrying on in this thread I have to wonder if they rate anybody at this World Cup. They'll probably think that Spain are shit as well.

Not sure which game most posters were watching...Italy played well and completely controlled the game. Their players looked sharp and fit. They spent virtualy the whole game attacking. But yes didnt create that many good chances.

I think that Paraguay would be estatic with the (fortunate) point.

Indeed. And if they finish 2nd in the group on goal difference, they can avoid Spain in the quarter-finals on goal difference, but they would have to get past the Dutch in the last 16 and Brazil in the quarter-finals, which Italy are more than capable of doing.

Meh, it's simply obvious that most anglo fans bandwagoning on the socceroos just hate wogs, and hence the Italian soccer team.

Serious question though for anyone that is anti-Italy:

Do you have any friends of Italian background in real life?

Is your hate genuine such that it boils over into racism, or is it merely light-hearted?

Anyway, back on topic, it was obvious Italy dominated the entire game from the start. I'm sure neutral supporters that understand football would know this.

Paraguay would be over the moon with the point and that they held on for a draw.

Didn't create that many good chances, but it was an opening game, in the wet, against a quality defensive unit. Marchetti and Buffon weren't stressed (apart from the actual goal itself unfortunately). I was satisfied with the quality of the passing game too. The campaign is underway and it was a good game to get those nerves settled.

I won't even start....

anyway, they'll qualify easy. Paraguay are OK but Italy actually looked pretty decent, is Criscito a fullback though? Thought he was more a CB. I think they should've had a few more long range efforts, they seemed to put the keeper under pressure many times. They got a more attractive game style but it doesn't necessarily mean they are going to do well. Be interesting when they verse a quality side, but they always pull something out from nowhere.

Poor post PK

Why is it that you suggest "Anglo fans" bandwagon but Australians that support Italy don't? This thread is full of posters that haven't posted on anything soccer related before and all of a sudden they are " Azzuri" , "Forza Italia" etc etc. They like most Australians that support italy were nowhere to be seen during WC qualifiers.

WTF is anti-italy? You make it seem like a crime if you don't like Italy, furthermore if you don't like a team or the way a team plays it is not racism. I can't stand the Australian cricket team does that mean I hate Australians?

You can dislike something without being racist you realise. Once again reinforcing my theory that you can't say something negative about the italian team without being told you are a racist, bitter about 06, band-wagoner, know nothing about soccer etc etc.

Why is it that people can say I don't like france for example and not receive the same insults they would if they said they did not like Italy?

I have Italian friends and I like Italian players such as Chiellini and De Rossi, I simply don't enjoy the way they play the game. Much like I don't enjoy the way St Kilda play. I never knew not liking a team was such a big deal.

1. Because there's a clear pattern of genuine anglo fans that go for Australia hating the Italian side.

2. I never said it was racism, I asked the question. Happy to be proven wrong, that's why I asked it.

3. I accept that a lot of Italian fans here are bandwagoners. Simply putting on a facade because their last name ends in a i e or o, but wouldn't know the first thing about serie a, let alone Italian culture aside from pasta and monica bellucci. Wouldn't have a clue who Enzo Bearzot is when it comes to the sport, probably never even heard of him.

4. I agree you can say something negative about a team without it being racist. I also cannot ****ing stand France in the sport. I simply brought up the word, but wasn't making accusations with it. There seems to be a notion that whenever the word is brought up, its because an accusation is being made, which is fair enough because it's often brought up in this fashion. At the same time though, if we're being honest there are a good number of people that really just dont like anything Italy (soccer or not). I think most aussie fans (bandwagon or genuine) would agree that there is bitterness around 2006. Racism is what I'm asking about, and I think it's fair enough to ask when you see blatantly stupid comments made about Italians (and vice versa for that matter, as I see this all too commonly as well).

It is a genuine hate for all those people who were born in Australia, have lived their whole life in Australia, yet always support Italy, Croatia, Serbia, etc.

Italy happens to have the largest population so therefore receives the most hate.

LOL probably spot on.
