I thought NZ played like us for most of the game.

Anyway, was supporting New Zealand, but looking out for the two West Brom players Didn't see that coming at all, even though Smeltz had a decent chance from a cross.

nz are very bare bones meat and potatoes type of team

there is nothing exquisite or complicated about the way they play their football. they are adopting an uninhabited style of game plan. chances are they'll lose from the fact they dont have that element of class to their game, yet they will probably score goals in games

that is something the socceroos have lost under the regime of pim verbeek in the false belief australia is up there to mix it with the big boys

although that being said i dont see nz's chances as being any good against paraguay or the italians

still, you never know: they could beat the italians because they can score a goal whereas italy would be too busy with all their fuss about their ultra complicated football.

Champions League is the highest level football so you EPL argument holds no weight whatsoever.

I'm not saying that - your original point was that because Italy won it in 06, they have nothing to fear of Spain, which is absurd considering that core you mention (without Toni, Del Piero, Totti...) is now old, past it, or out of form.

Just like you said that because Spain has a tradition of choking, they're expected to do it again. Nothing points in that direction. Of course Spain has a much bigger chance of not winning the WC than winning it (and then you'll get people saying they've choked again), but this current side is better than older generations and is on a great run - counting on them to choke only 2 years after an almost identical squad has won the euro (and has beaten most big countries in friendlies along the way) is a bit strange.

I bag players that everyone says are stars but play in far inferior leagues to those of the EPL and La liga, infact I wouldn't say bag but don't rate as highly which is understandble as the quality isn't as high. Which African no namers am I fapping over? Gervinho is the only player I have mentioned and I'm not making him out to be some epic star just a good player.

They played in La Liga which I rate and consistently put in good performances for their country. So yes I rated them.
