When you guys start a thread about one of the most Rugby League dominate suburbs in Sydney and you suddenly expect us to respect your space?

C'mon.
You must be very insecure when you feel threatened by an article about the growth of Australian Football in a particular area . Do you feel this way about soccer and RU and basketball too ?

:(

Indeed.

I've always found it funny how people whinge like little babies after RL folk join in a debate on something which clearly affects the (RL) code.

If AFL fans don't want RL people to post in RL related threads, don't post them.

Both games require skills, but different skillsets to each other. How you can say one sport in more skillful that the other is beyond me.

Both require similar skills, catching, passing and kicking. While AFL having larger grounds, requires more endurance for all the running they do, while league players require more strength as they are put in more one on one situations where they are required to bring a man down.

I love if you could explain how the AFL "Structure" means they require more skill so I can have a good laugh.
the skills involved in AFL (kicking the ball to players leads, marking the ball) are much tougher than leagues basics. not to say there arent skills involved in league, or there arent very skillfull players playing league, but i dont think there is any doubt that AFL is a more skillful game.

league is a much tougher sport, it emphasizes toughness and front on tackling over skill, once again, thats not to say that AFL isnt a tough sport, or that you arent expected to take and lay some pretty solid hits, its just league is much more demanding in that area

OH Neanderthal logic, stop the spread of AFL in Bankstown region by sooking on the Australian Football board! ROFL:D

Might check this Thugby board out.... will I need crayons?
Even the Premier of Queensland acts like some hick country town mayor about not wanting Australia's native game in his state. If their leader is that insular what hope do the peasants have?

I've been to both places. NY briefly, but I lived in London. There is a buzz about football. You go to a pub and take a pi ss and guys will be talking footy. Not in Sydney.
having lived and worked in london for years, i can attest to this.

my workplace is constant chelsea vs arsenal arguments, the CEO is a spurs member, we have signed shirts and stuff all over the walls.

london on any of the premiership weekends where the big teams are playing each other is just crazy, and champions league with english sides is off the wall.

LOL:D Pretty good summary!

But they are learning... I suspect that's why the Neanderthals are here... deep down they really prefer AFL:thumbsu:

See in the old days before Greg Brentnall... (was offerred to go to Swans at same time as Bankstown but more $ in RL then).. taught them the skill of kicking drop punts to position... even had the Mortimers ( who played a bit of AFL) bring in a sorta attempted mark.

But gotta take your hat off to them... it's tough....could you imagine Juddy or Goodsey sticking his head up some other blokes bum cheeks 20 times a game... or getting his shins kicked off in those scums ( don't do that anymore).... or getting head ripped off in a coathanger or pile driven in the turf ala WWF Wresting..... sensational:thumbsu: :D

the thread was about AFL growing in sydney till you league assholes turned up.

iv never known a more paranoid bunch than sydney-based league fans.

AFL growth in RL areas need no input from league trolls, and you can only be here is you are paranoid about the AFLs growth

look, let my put your minds at rest, so you can ******** off back to whereever assholes like you guys actually hang out:

AFL is not taking over league, league will always be number one in sydney and brisbane. your game is totally safe

OK? feel better?

the big thing is the repetition. getting one big hit you can generally shake off, but in the rugbys, you have big muther********ers hitting you repeatedly for hours. then you are expected to keep executing throws to a high level and keep running.

iv only played seriously a few times (and always with kiwis, strangely), but ******** me it tough. and im a big guy

The AFL is trying to takeover QLD and NSW with an almost religious-type fervor.

- They fudged the rules and compromised the integrity of the national competition by giving the Swans and Lions an unfair advantage in an attempt to build support. (asterisk premierships anyone?)

- The left the heartland of Aussie Rules high-and-dry in respect to TV broadcasting, all in an effort to attract support in NSW and QLD.

- Attempts to combat the introduction of the GC Titans through the dramatic increasing of advertising and promotion of AFL on the GC (also see: GC AFL TV broadcasting for further confirmation).

- God knows how much money spent on promoting the code in QLD and NSW.

But no - the AFL isn't trying to 'takeover' the north.

Considering the amount of time, money and effort (coupled with the added frustration of fans from the AFL 'heartland' who have been soldout) spent on promoting the code in these parts - you'd better hope it works.

so they are expanding into the QLD and NSW, and using every method they can.

does that mean they are trying to take over? of course not. they just want success for the clubs and code up there.

you really are the MOST paranoid of a very paranoid bunch.

relax mate, enjoy the league season. we arent out to get you. league will always be number one in sydney. the AFL just wants a healthy slice, thats all. just like basketball and soccer

a healthy return on that investment cam back in the last TV rights. yet more should come back next time.

ask yourself this kook. is there anyway, any possibility whatsoever, that AFL could ever even draw level with league in popularity in sydney?

there isnt, not in a 50 years. they know this at AFL house.

what is realistic in a 10-20 year time span is good ratings and good crowds for a couple of teams in each northern city.

Wrong.

It was about AFL growth in RL heartland. Just look at the title of the thread for conformation.

Not surprisingly, the first two replies virtually ensured this thread would degenerate into the usual AFL v RL thread.

Your foul and abusive language fits right in with the theme of the thread.

I don't know about that. Take a look at your average Vic. Not as paranoid, but very close minded when it comes to other sports.

LoL

I guess we really shouldn't let people who know what they're talking about actually have any input then.

ROFLMFAO.

Typical of so many posters on this forum. Shoot first, get the facts later.

About what?

Unlike some people, I'm very contented with the "sports" I follow and their place in the world.

I'll leave the abuse and childish comments to the experts.
