I go away for one bloody night. Well obviously if the power was ever going to go off it was always going to be when I was away.
But it was apparently not off cleanly - lights were dimming, TV was flashing on and off, amplifier was apparently clicking on and off, desktop PCs were going weird. Worst of all, about half the light switches weren't working when I got home this afternoon which caused some angst.
The switches are Shelly wifi units. They all seem to be ok but lost connection with the router. A simple restart of the router got the switches all back online. But even though the switches all have static IP addresses assigned they were not talking which has me a bit puzzled. I might connect up a separate network for the Shelly stuff as I think they might be be better off isolated from the world.

See, l just want a light globe that you screw in...
The way you said that reminds me of our first day of school with a new year 8 teacher. She asked everyone to introduce themselves and to say what they did over the Christmas holidays. One kid stood up and says his name. He then says he spent the holidays screwing on the deck of his mates boat.See, l just want a light globe that you screw in and it turns on or off. It was a crayfish boat and they were replacing damaged timber getting it ready for the next season.screwing on the deck of his mates boat.
Shelly switches are better and simpler than most apart from Hue, but they are far better than any others I have mucked around with.KISS

That's why Shelley is the best. It can sit behind these.

The switches work exactly like they would without the Shelly in situ but with the additional benefit of being able to be controlled using home assistant, google, Alexa, Homekit etc. plus they can control each other so a switch in the kitchen can turn on a light at the front door for example if there's a knock on the door after dark. They can also have schedules if desired but we don't use that. Can the Clipsal do manual over ride?

Your power switches have assigned static IPs?!I go away for one bloody night. Well obviously if the power was ever going to go off it was always going to be when I was away.

I do it sometimes.Does anyone else have a partner that stacks rubbish neatly into the bin? Apart from the bottles, all plastics are washed and dried, folded and packaged together, cardboard boxes are dismantled and flattened... It might be a slight case of OCD I think...

I placed a jar vertically in to see how long it takes to join the neat stack.
