Dave will claim he misread the article but I think everything else goes a bit blurry for him after he sees Grundy and Moore!
Yeah, not going to have a crack at him for it, because I know what he's like when it comes to those two, but the other two boys deserve some credit in the thread title.

I think Crisp's year has been underrated given his year last year. If he produced his 2016 form last year we still would have been happy.

Maynard's nom is reward for our coaching staff willingly putting games into him when he wasn't ready knowing he will give his all and come on with experience. The kid can play and I'm glad we persisted. I think we need to do the same with Crocker in the forward 50.

Degoey Adams Treloar Moore Grundy Maynard Crisp Fasolo Smith Aish Phillips Ramsay Scharenberg you would all be 10 year players.
Not quite convinced on Phillips yet, but the rest you're spot on.

I've seen plenty of Hunt, he's going to be a good player, his speed is phenomenal.

I wouldn't mention Z.Williams and Hunt in the same breath though.

Hunt 10 games of 14 touches or less while Zac Williams only had 5 games under 20 touches. Hunt just doesn't get enough pill to be worthy of a selection in this squad and thats not a knock on him but a testament to the quality of players available.

Caleb Daniel will either win or come runner up in the rising star. His decision making is elite and is influencing games of footy in a quality team.

Well that's a good assessment and one I can understand, but didn't really address my statement. Given they've picked 7 defenders which of Wines, Macrae, Daniher, Crouch and Kelly is filling that role? Considering none play behind the ball I'm keen to hear your feedback otherwise we might as well just pick the best 22 regardless of position. If you're mounting a case for Hunt out I would suggest you consider Byrne-Jones, Maynard and at a stretch Andrews as replacements.

Next which of Wines, Macrae, Daniher, Crouch and Kelly does Daniel have covered? He probably will win the rising star, but like Taylor doesn't project anywhere near the best player in the pool with Wright, Moore, Weitering, Mills and Petracca looking superior long term players.

Crispo, while not as good this year as last year, has been an outstanding pick-up.

actually don't think there's been that much difference between his 2015 & 2016 seasons.

His average disposals are down from 22 per game to 20, but his tackles are up - seems to me he's been asked to do more contested and defensive work than last year so he's perhaps not as noticeable - has kicked less goals too. Plus our expectations were almost zero when he started last year but have risen considerably which adds to the perception he hasn't been performing to the same level.
I would bet on his contested possies being up on last year also.

He has the happy knack of being very durable - hasn't missed a game since he came to the Pies.

Smith is stiff to miss out on making the squad imo. Qualifies for age and has had as good a debut season as you'll see. Looking at some of the names though, can understand why. There's some serious quality youth coming through the system at the moment.

Not the official team yet Dave, just a journo doing an opinion piece to give the team/concept a bit of publicity after the squad was named yesterday. Voted by fans here: www.22under22.com.au, still time to get your vote in.

Okay but Pies Player find it hard to get in;)

Was good on the weekend. Stands up in tackles gets the handball out.
Agreed, but need a bigger sample size than 1 game to declare him a 10 year player.

Laird - Weitering - Lever
Docherty - Vlastuin - Z.Williams

Mills as the bench defender.

All 7 are superior players to Jayden Hunt.

Completely agree about Hunt. So what if he's lightning quick? Doesn't get anywhere near enough of the ball at this stage of his career.

Caleb Daniel is an elite decision maker and should go very close to winning the rising star.

North - NIL

Love it
But, but, but... All the North supporters on the main board keep telling me it's a myth that their team is full of old campaigners with barely any quality youth coming through???
