Can easily see him as top 3 in the b&f at this stage - he really hasn't had a quiet game, and while he isn't kicking goals himself, he is setting up teammates & playing really smart

A good example of that is good goal assist for Henry at the start of the last:
- Smith handballs to Miers who is in a position to snap, but instead he handballs to Henry who's in a better position & kicks the goal
He’s got the full dose of the Cam Mooney / SJ who can win the goal assist.
Miers has been sublime.

And get another example of letting kids develop and get games. Running power and skills. - still has moments of over ambition.. but they are becoming less frequent

Go Catters

Big spike in disposals, tackles, inside 50s, clearances and of course goal assists. And he had a good season in 2022 so that's pretty significant. Although he's a forward, his role in the team is almost like a highly creative wingman. Having that is a genuine weapon for us.

I said it in another thread but Miers is the best link-man in the AFL right now.

When we drafted him as a gun small forward we hoped that he could kick 1-2 goals a game i rekon but he has evolved into a much different player in part thanks to not being needed as much in the forward 50 kicking goals because we have Stengle , Close and Rohan for that.

If you actually watch him his smarts is off the charts and reminds me of some of the stuff Stevie J used to do.

Yes he has a weird kicking style but he hits hi target most of the time and that target is usually in a very good position to score or to launch forward.

Easily best 18 atm probably in the top 5 -10 players picked.

His endurance is his point of difference at the moment. A very good role player who provides that link between the mid/fwds and runs hard to help defensively. Glad he has found a role, as good as he is around goal he lacks the speed to get separation when played closer to goal

In a great position in that he is damaging but not damaging enough that the opposition would waste a tag on him.

He is the number 1 score assist player in the AFL this year if that isn't damaging i don't know what is

If the other side had a defender with enough endurance to run with him, they wouldn't waste him as a defender

Not hitting the scoreboard as much - due to playing further up the ground. Teams would try lock down on him if he did. Similar to close, hard to keep on top of players who cover 15km a game

It's extraordinary someone with such a laconic and bizarre kicking style got to this level let alone has reach such great heights. Something like that I thought would have been coached out of him very early on in the system.

Second best player to wear the #32.

He is just really really comfortable with his own game these days, also a lot stronger than previously... he can put his body in the contest and get the ball out now.

Has elite HAWK VISION as well, they have a fantastic connection and he looks for and hits up Hawk so so often

Gryan recognised as comfortably the best kick i50 statistically in the league. That sublime kick on the weekend to hit up, was it Cameron?, was the perfect example and had me thinking - what level could he realistically reach? Just an astounding improvement in his game over the past year.

He is finding his role within an AFL level lineup. Before he was an I50 goal scoring specialist, now he's contributing all over the field.
