Now all I wanna know is: Will buying the US version of this game allow me to play online on the Australian severs or will I be restricted to US servers?

I'm not too sure how it works, whether the online server region system goes by the game origin or my PSN ID.

From my experience, I have two games purchased from overseas, both are Asian region games, and when I go online I mostly play against Americans, obviously this isn't because of it connecting to an American server but just the sheer number of Americans playing will connect me with Americans who are playing, although I have also played against Brazilians, and people from other Countries.

This is just like COD4 where you occasionaly get an Australian match, but rarely.

Fingers crossed R*/MS has Australian servers for us. Otherwise online will be pretty average.

You just have to pick your times to play.

At this time of day, i avoid playing COD4 because of all the yanks, but at night, or early afternoon it is much better. Same will be for GTA. Wait for the right time

So it's all on the same servers and has nothing to do with the origin of the game disc?
 
With XBL if you want to get a time when the Yanks aren't on evening AEST is great, they drop off at around 6pm and don't come back on until 1-2am.

One of my friends got GTA IV off the net, the bastard keeps sending me game invites for it.

:D what a prick.

Yeah with XBL, i'm pretty sure its just p2p, there's no servers as such. If you're playing with a heap of yanks or a crap host, thats when lag starts to creep in.

Halo3 seems more immune than other games on the 360, as it was basically designed around XBL, rather than made to work on it. COD4 is a bit susceptible to lag issues, tho not bad on decent connections, Rainbow can be horrible.

If it's COD4 quality i'll be happy.
 
Is there anyway i could just rock up tomorrow and purchuse a copy or would i have to pre order you reckon?
 
I'm hoping there is......if not I'll just wait.

I suspect there wont be a problem getting a PS3 copy at the shops I go to, it's a rather less well off area.

Yeah, A few private torrent trackers I am members of have had it available on 360 (pal or ntsc) since the 23rd April. Obviously you need your 360 modded and it specifically warns not to be online to XBL while playing until the 29th!!

The infamous act of picking up hookers in your car remains intact in the Australian version. This was the most likely cut to be made to appease the OFLC and the fact that it hasn't been made indicates that the actual change must be very minor indeed.

Fans of the raunchier side of GTA can also breath easily upon hearing that strip clubs, complete with private lap dances are also completely accessible and intact in the Aussie version. Other potential items for the cutting room floor were getting drunk and being able to then drive while drunk, but both of these options are still present.

Our best guess is that something has been trimmed from a cut-scene. So, although we can't say for sure what has been cut, we would urge people planning on boycotting the Aussie version to reassess their plans. Considering hookers, lap dances and drink driving have all sailed through you're very unlikely to even notice, let alone miss, whatever was snipped.

As long as the game is more or less intact, i must say i'm not too fussed with a few cut scenes being nerfed.

You can watch those on youtube if it means that much to you imo.
 
I went to EB's today after work and saw heaps and heaps of GTA IV boxes on the shelves, cracked a semi thinking maybe it was out a day early but not to be. I will have to duck in there at lunch tomorrow to get it, hopefully there are copies left.
