Well, LLD is blatantly ignoring the countless reports being thrown at him, so why should I take his argument seriously?

He knows full well that the 360 is suffering the same freezing issues.

He knows full well the PS3 is getting marginally better reviews in the graphics department.

Until he acknowledges these scientific facts, he is not worth being acknowledged with a meaningful reply himself.

that article is misrepresenting IMO. if you are going to explicitly state that PS3's lock up and not 360s, then there should be some sort of mention in the actual article about the 360's problems or lack thereof.

Countless reports have been thrown at me? You cited IGN and Gametrailers and said there was a substantial difference. Now it's marginal? Did you see the videogamer link I showed:

They give the nod to the 360 for graphics, and going by their comparison shots I definitely agree with them. I've given you the facts and figures for actual output, the point I'm trying to make is that the rest is opinion.

You can keep insisting the PS3 version is the superior, I'm just going to enjoy it.

bit_pattern, can I ask is it a constant thing, does it keep happening or just once or twice? Have you managed to fix it?

With all due respect it's a trivial arguement where both parties will never back down....it seems to consume any thread that mentions the word PS3 and/or Xbox 360. It's getting really tiresome.

I like my PS3, but I'm not about to go to war over it.

The only real issue I've had is the game slowing down when there's too much action. I would have thought they would have allowed for that.

If you limit your capabilities so that it can cope with the worst case scenario (in terms of polygons, effect, lighting etc) with a completely smooth framerate, you are going to be severely reducing the image quality of the overall game. It's a balance you have to achieve.

I have only noticed one major slowdown in my playthrough so far, involving several exploding cars.

My opinion does hold more weight, I own both consoles, and both versions of GTA4. I don't feel any better liking the PS3 version more than the 360 version - I've got both. What possible motivation is there for me to lie in the manner you do LLD?

It's only locked up to the point of having to shut the console down once, but it has had problems freezing between scenes for longer than normal. It happens when i try to click through stuff too quickly, as far as I can gather.

You need to enter the code that you got with the free gold live promotion, but don't do it until you're ready to play multiplayer, as it begins immediately.

You need to go to the marketplace blade on your desktop for account activation btw, not in game, just in case you didn't know.

Was $200 off it last night, then my screen froze loading for a new game. (only happened once).

Turned off the system and back on again only to find my rank wiped and had to start all over again! Was Spewing.

So far...well...the game is brilliant, as was expected. But for many reasons already stated, i dunno if i'd be giving it 10's or anything. 10's are for absolute perfection, and GTA4 doesn't quite get there.

-The graphics are fine, but as said nothing jaw dropping after some of the things we've seen on the next gen consoles. Definite improvement over SA, and still fine for purpose.

-The camera angles can be a bit weird sometimes, especially when driving. You get used to it, but they could have been improved. Its too often an occurrence to not be able to see where you are going. Especially when turning. Often you turn smack bang into an oncoming car.

-The combat is a bit clunky. Cover is a bit haphazard, and the lock on feature sorta takes away your control a bit. Other games have done it better.

Its not a 10 in those areas, but its hard to complain when the game is a 11/10 in terms of the fun factor. Makes up for its shortcomings. I'm still having a ball

You have to be kidding, I won't be playing anything other than multiplayer for atleast the next week. Cops and Robbers is a pisser, especially if there are 5 on each team.

There is if you buy it separately. Got to agree, the multiplayer is just addictive as hell.

We will see. I agree, it is very funny, initially.

Multiplayer is good fun if everyone actually decides to play properly. I have a feeling that GTA's greatest strength may also be its greatest weakness – freedom.

8/10 games I have played online have turned into a farce because either;

1. People decided to just roam around and shoot stuff
2. Someone decided to play pranks on their team mates (crashing a car load of people into the ocean/deliberately killing the boss etc)

Don't underestimate the immaturity of the average online gamer. As I said, if you’re playing an organised game with mates, yeah, it’ll be a hoot.

Still reckon it will get old pretty quickly though.

Agreed. Couldn’t believe everyone saying how awesome it looked. Thought I might have had a setting wrong.

But GTA has never been about the graphics...
