Well, in Australia all the launch PS3's had full BC (something the 360 doesn't have) and you can still get them imported or second hand. So as far as BC goes, the PS3 definitely trumps the 360.

So in terms of backwards compatibility, a console that you can't buy a backwards compatible version of in this country, trumps a console thats has backwards compatibility for a vast bulk of its games library (pretty much any game anyone would want to revisit).

Ok rJ:rolleyes:

The vast majority of Xbox titles won't work on your 360.

And in terms of BC, the console that has FULL BC trumps the one that has very limited BC. You CAN get it in this country, btw. Not to mention, that same console also comes with BR as standard, a hard drive as standard, online play as standard, wireless connection as standard, rechargeable controls as standard etc etc whereas Microsoft make you pay for these so called 'optional' extras, that most gamers would consider gar more essential than backwards compatibility.

Actually they do. There's hundreds of them.

Pretty much every single popular xbox game in history is on that list. Mongo and Jims Fantasy adventure probably isn't but i don't think there will be too much sleep lost over that.

You CAN get it in this country, btw

Nah, not retail, imported or second hand on ebay, both not something your average gamer will even consider.

Who cares anyway, talk about the game. This ongoing console nit picking in every thread is pretty tiresome

False, you can't buy it retail.

If you can't buy it retail it doesn't make my comment false. My comment was that it's available in Australia - and it is. Please take back your comment and apologise.

Only imported or second hand on ebay, both not something your average gamer will even consider.

Please tell me who these average gamers are.

Apparently they only care about things that might appear to be negative to the PS3 (like backwards compatibility - which is more widely available on PS3 than xbox anyway) but don't care about the countless features missing on 360 (like a hard drive or online gaming, for just two examples, even though there's dozens) and are also incapable of ordering a console over the internet. Does that sound about right?

Actually, i think i'll skip it karl, sorta over correcting all your mistakes and silly claims. It just turns every thread into a borefest when i'd rather just talk about games

Anyone see the preview of gta in zoo magazine? Looked pretty sick, especially that shot of the on fire cop cars.

16 days and counting

Then why are you still trying to get the last word in? It's pretty clear I've won the argument - the least you could do is admit it like a man instead of sulking.

You read Zoo magazine? LOL - that explains your opinions.

Thats ok rJ, you thinking that something available second hand on ebay and in overseas online stores, quantifies as "available for retail" in australia explains the usefulness of a lot of your opinions too.

I guess we've both learnt a little bit about each other.

The zoo was at my hairdressers last week btw, but yeah... moot point. Whiles away the 20min wait.

You said it wasn't available in Australia, not that it wasn't available for retail.

Is it available in Australia? Yes / No

It's a magazine for the lowest form of life.

You are such a pedantic clown sometimes. Going by your definition, everything in the world is available in Australia.

A console sonsumer is going to order a PS3 from overseas, but can't buy a 360 SKU that has a hard drive :p

So close, yet so far. Might go to the midnight release, although I don't see a point as I wont be able to play it for a few days.
Why won't you be able to play it for a few days?

I am definetly going to the release, can't wait for this game, the anticipation gets larger by the day, every peice of new info, every peice of video, just builds and builds.

You can get it from http://www.gpstore.co.nz (including the Special Edition, until tomorrow) uncensored and for around the same price you'll be paying in stores.

GTA4 in New Zealand Will Be Edited Too
Post by trog @ 01:27pm | 8 Comments | AusGamers News
Raisty just let us know that he's received an email from gpstore.co.nz, a New Zealand-based online game retailer, letting him know that they've just been informed that they're getting the same edited version of Grand Theft Auto 4 that we'll receive in Australia - so if you were planning on importing it, you might have to look further away than the Kiwis:

We have been informed today that New Zealand will be receiving the same version of Grand Theft Auto IV as Australia.

As you have placed your order after Rockstar announced that the Australian version was edited, we are assuming that you will no longer require the game to be shipped from us, as we can't supply you with an uncut version.

The last thing we want to do is supply you with a product that does not meet your needs and we've therefore taken the liberty of removing your GTA4 order from our web site.

Be sure to check your email for updates if you've already been in contact with them. As a related aside - very proactive (and honest) of them to let customers know so quickly and efficiently.

I was gonna import some for me and my mates, guess I'll get one local now :(

Well, that's a major blow for 360-only owners who wanted to import the full game.

Luckily us PS3 owners can get it from the US or UK and it will still work, being region-free and all.

The UK version will work perfectly on the 360 since both countries use PAL. I think that using different DVD regions make us forget that at times.

Saw a rumour on Kotaku that the only thing edited from the game is a cut-scene of a gun being shoved up someone's arse.

Pretty sure the 360 dvd's are region coded mate, it isn't simply a matter of PAL vs NTSC.

If that's the only thing missing it isn't a huge deal - but still, I'd rather have the whole game

Actually the UK and Western Europe are both PAL regions, same as Australia. If people can be bothered they can order one from there. The region thing i'm pretty certain is for DVD video only, whereas games are only either pal or ntsc compatible.

40 quid, about 97 bucks aussie.

Don't think i'll be bothering tho. If its anything like san andreas, where the censored content was pretty lame, no big deal for me really other than the principle.

I'm not sure about this to be honest - discs don't really need to be either NTSC or PAL anywa - for example, you order a BR from the states, so I'm assuming NTSC - but it still works fine on PAL players.

From my understanding, PAL and NTSC are different electrical set ups and therefore only applies to actual appliances, not discs.

Like I stated, I am quite certain that UK/Europe is region 2 and we are region 3. I wouldn't feel confident ordering it for my 360. I'll research this more and get back to you though

I think we're region 4 actually.

But as i said, that's video only.

NTSC 360 games will not work in Australian 360's, so don't buy one.

UK PAL versions, from the info i have been able to find, should work fine.
