UK, April 23, 2008 - Leading UK supermarket Asda has disclosed surprising figures pertaining to the forthcoming Grand Theft Auto IV, revealing that the PlayStation 3 version is outselling the Xbox 360 version to the tune of three to one.

Speaking to trade paper MCV, Asda's head of games Duncan Cross said, "Both titles have generated great interest on the Asda website, with strong pre-orders, and the PS3 version is selling three times that of 360, which is surprising and not in line with what we'd expect."

While it's no news that the game is going to sell – with recent reports suggesting it could make $400 million in its first week alone – it'll come as a surprise that the PlayStation 3 is trumping the Xbox 360 to such an extent. Debbie O'Neill of UK electronic retailer Comet stated that "We have great expectations and believe it is going to be a massive hardware driver – especially on PS3."

Personally I think the strong link with GTA and Playstation is what is driving such sales, when askin most gamers(Casual or not) what system GTA is/was out on people would say Playstation, most wouldn't have had a clue that GTA was actually released on the XBOX, could well be driving more PS3 sales too.

Maybe. But that will be a very long time indeed.

Will be interesting if the ign article is correct though, considering that there's some 6 million MORE 360's out there than PS3's - it would be a huge swing in PS3's favour if the game sells more on that console.

In the end, I'd wager the game will be almost identical on both consoles, so sales won't impact me much.

Might be the first multiplatform game to get anywhere near equivalent sales?

Save yourself the $100 and just get the game, not worth getting banned from XBL.

Intro is great and long - with bondage and sex talk haha - deserving its ma already - now walking around city - details on everything is fantastic. Controls are smooth. and to top it off Iggy pop is a DJ on one of the radio stations.

Done few missions - fighting mechanics are good - with counter moves and u can disarm ppl. The radio ads are hilarious. The car damage is a lot better and the characters are soo much less annoying than in gtasa.

I received my copies of Grand theft auto 4 yesterday afternoon from dvdcrave.

Well if someone went online before the actual worldwide street date that wouldn't be considered very smart would it?

You'll find most stores already have it in stock (i know jb hifi do in Adelaide because a girl i know works there) but not too many will be willing to sell it to you. You can always try your luck & hopefully the sales assistant doesn't care about their job that much as my mate works at EB & they've been told that if they break the street date they'll be fired immediately.
Try going into Kmart, Target, big W, toysrus or one of those type of department stores & you may get lucky.

Yeah, there's a big load screen at the start, and then no more loading for the whole game. I think it's brilliant. I can handle one big loading screen much better than having a shitload of small ones.
