A bit expensive for a home made bomb?

Chlorine & Brake Fluid is far cheaper.
The 360 version is reported to be better graphically as well.

After almost two thousands words of technical discussion, the bottom line is that it's clear that Rockstar had some issues matching the basic performance of the Xbox 360 game on the PS3 hardware. Lower resolution, zero anti-aliasing support and a more variable frame-rate are the bottom line.

Don't let the facts stop you though.

For $270 at Big W you can get a 360 Arcade and then for around $80 you can buy a hard drive (i.e. $350) and you'll have a system every bit as good (and some like me will say better) to a ps3.

Note: reckon this discussion should be in the 360 vs ps3 thread but I couldn't let the stuff being posted go unchallenged.

You're not very witty are you? Guess if you lose on facts what can you do?

Oh well.

Haha, lose on facts? So if a console is supposedly better with graphics that makes it a superior machine? Hmmm, yes you trumped my wit with that call.

The fact I can play online for free and xbox users have to purchase a gold or silver membership adds to the cost of a 'cheap' console.

I respect it all comes down to personal preference, thats why I think my place will look better with an xbox door stop...but I'll stop at adding a hard drive.

Okay an update on my attempt to acquire GTA IV

Will probably get GTA IV on Monday via trade in of PS2 console + 4 games.

Its not for this thread so I'll stop it here.

Haha, I was doing free roam at the airport with about 5 other guys and we were mostly killing each other.
This guy came up to me and I expected him to start shooting at me, but instead he started tooting his horn. So I ran over to him and hopped into his car. He started flying down the runway, when all of a sudden he jerked to the right and bailed. I went hurtling into the water, still in the car. He ran over to the side and shot me to death while i was swimming back in.
Another funny thing I saw was a guy who stocked up on grenades. He just sprinted along all the streets, dropping grenades everywhere. It's funny watching people running after him to try and run him down, only to be blown up by like 5 grenades.
Online is still laggy as hell though.
We might need to organise a game ourselves.

Unfortunately, you end up with this:

Online is still laggy as hell though.

I would much rather pay a pittance for a seamless, superior service with no issues, than have a free, laggy, half-arsed online element.

You know what they say, you pay for what you get. ;)

Nothing wrong with Xbox live, I think it improves my gaming experience by an additional 30% I cannot speak any more highly of the service TBH

Cant say the same for Sony but hey each to their own

in every xbox360 game can you choose low ping servers etc...?

i mean generally when i play online i get host so i don't get lagged...but in cod4 sometimes it chucks me into american games and that is the only time i'm ever lagged

You do realise thats only for one reason, Australia has slow internet speeds!!!

If we had speeds close to that of US or Japan, nobody would complain of lag.

The PSN is not to blame, developers are for not putting in dedicated servers.

Why have I never had problems on XBL? Halo 3 is just ridiculously quick, no matter where it chucks me with it's automatching. GTA IV has had the odd hiccup here and there, over plenty of hours gaming, but nothing to complain about at all like I've seen PS3 owners whinge.

i'll take that skip of my question as a no.....

therefore it all comes down to the internet speeds.

(i don't get lagged unless it's US etc...)

I was shitting my self, but I passed Three Leaf Clover the first time, and with full health.
A bit of a scare though. When I was running away from the cops, I got outside of the radar for a couple of seconds. Soon as I lose them, a car hits me and my ute lights on fire. I bring it to a stop an run away. It explodes and I tun around, only to see one of the brothers on fire and running down the freeway. Luckily he didn't get cleaned up or burn to death, because I would have been pissed.
I can't pass the first mission for Ray. I tried it 3 times and I keep dying, so I gave up for now.

Well this is my take, you play against someone in the US you WILL get lag 100% guarenteed, some games do very well with the lag though as they make it a universal speed, they do that by not having a host and playing the game from seperate servers, on the PS3 Resistance and Warhawk do this really well.

If you play on the PSN or XBL with Australians or low ping games you won't get lag or very little, it is mainly as I said to do with developers not having dedicated servers on games and having anyone and everyone host.

My take. XBL is a pretty streamlined system and some games have been written with it in mind (i.e. Halo 3) which makes them ridiculously fast.

I'm sure for a lot of games there would be little difference between the two consoles (at a guess).

On halo 3? Nah mate, sorry, you don't ay. I play yanks all the time in halo 3 and i'm always getting green pings. The online element of the game has just been seamlessly designed with XBL in mind, works an absolute treat.

The only time i've had issues on H3 is when i play with a mate with a slow BB connection as host. As soon as we switch to another party leader all's sweet again.

Other games, COD4, Rainbow...yeah, you'd have a point. Playing with yanks can get laggy sometimes. But not on Halo. Never had it on GTA either, tho i haven't played it online that much.

Oh. My. God.

It's everything I hoped for and more.
Crazy good.

Yet to try online multiplayer, but looking forward to it no less.

Well from what it sounds Halo is made very much like Resistance in the online department, I probably should have said that multiplatform games will give you lag as none of them are designed with a specific systems online requirements in mind.

HBK, you played GTA IV online?
If so, is it any good?
Can anyone clear this up for me?

Personally I have had tons of fun with online, GTA Races and the co-op missions are my faves, as well as cop's and robber's.

There are a few problems with lag in the deathmatch games, but TBH they are never my cup of tea anyway, and there are alot more fun game types than the staples of deathmatches anyway.

Is this game worth the buy on 360?
Since my 360 has been broken.
And i have only played it on ps3 for about 15 minutes.
Is there much graphical difference between the consoles?
Thanks

Having played on both consoles, there's not much of a graphical difference unless you are playing on a HD TV vs a SD TV.
