I'm looking to buy an electric but my bank account really needs to improve before I can get anything worthwhile.
Well, you've got a good start. Half the well known guitarists around are called Ritchie: Blackmore, Sambora, Kotzen, Norton (from Superheist and Walk the Earth), Richie Poate from Melbourne band Dreadnaught, etc....
Guitarists think they're awesome, bass players are dull, drummers are dumb and singers are egotistical.
Piano is where it's at![]()
Nice. As far as I know, Maton are about the best price to quality ratioed guitars around these days. I wouldn't mind one. Or a Gibson flying V.I've got a Maton electric with a Line 6 150W amp, goes pretty decent.![]()

Do you have matching spandex?I'm an Ibanez man. I've got an S470 (electric). Sensational axe. Plays beautifully. I've also got an Ibanez 5 string bass-active pickups. Lurverly. Had to reset its action a couple of days back. Plays very nicely. Great guitars for funtime happiness.

My first real guitar was a spandex looking Washburn. Being a rock rock guy rather than a c ock rock guy it wasn't really my image but it played well and had a great low action on it (helps lots when you're still learning).LOL! Yep. The spandex singlet is really sexy. I reckon you'd bar up if you saw me wearing my metal-poseur gear.

Are Cort pretty sh it, or really sh it? I just thought they were like Squire - sort of cheap immitation of Fender etc but better than most other strat copy type brands?Washburn seem quite underrated these days. They used to be really popular in the 80's. Dimebag Darrel (Pantera) was a Washburn guy from memory. I always rated them highly. (I think) Cort manufacture them now-along with a whole bunch of other brands that would stop you in your tracks.
My guitars aren't too "C-Rock" looking. Fairly tasteful. Both black. I've got the action set pretty low on the S470. I use the Deathwish brand strings. Heaviest gauge I can get (56-13). Excellent price, and they give a great tone too (perfect for Metal or Jazz). I've got a set of Elixir strings on the bass. Fortunately, the bass came set up with them. A 5str set will knock about $150+ out of your bank account. And once you've played with them you can appreciate why.
I used to have an Epiphone Explorer and an Epiphone Flying V. I found them excellent for jamming/playing and looking macho-but sitting down to play one was something I found awkward and uncomfortable due to their shapes.
