Please. Gumby vs St Kilda this year was way better than what JD dished up vs Gold Coast
i disagree. i love Gumby, but he got his 4 goals when the game was basically done anyway.
i just don't think his performances have ever lived up to the hype around here (obviously he's had his injury concerns). i'm just not sure he can get any better. with Daniher, the sky is the limit

On one level i like it, but on another having the Hurley/Carlisle switch as an option week in week out is something that has really grown on me. Can't see Gumby improving on that structure.buckets n hurls in the backline
herp derp and gumby forward
hooker taking the fletcher role and pears taking small/mediums still frees up the option of swinging hurls/buckets forward also frees up the option of hibbard, dempsey, pears and hooker being lose man best thing about our talls are their versatility could even get hibbard and dempsey into the midfield rotations with that setup who wouldnt want to see the pig in the square i can picture it now ryder taps to watson handballs to hibbard on the burst drills a 60m goal
I think Essendon found a full forward in Tom Bellchambers on Sunday. It remains to be determined whether Carlisle or Hurley will play at CHF as each game determines.
In some ways TBC has shown that he can do pretty much what Gumby can do, plus he is a great ruckman. Just cannot see a way for Gumby to fit in unless he develops significantly over the remainder of the year. If that happens we are in a selection nightmare because there will be nobody we can afford to lose, and no way to fit them all in. lol
I think Tom Bellchambers had a great game on Sunday but it is a stretch to say we have found a full forward. If he could not play in the ruck Bellchambers would be out of the team for either Gumby or Daniher.

also, why are people so blase about losing Bellchambers? Hille, i would imagine, would retire at years end, and we have noone else to backup Paddy, or replace him if he gets injured. Gumby isn't a ruckman, and I wouldn't be throwing Daniher into the ruck for a few years yet
sorry for the thread hijack.
No one wants to lose TBC because he is a good ruckman and hopefully end up being a great one but the reason with talk about him is because he could easily be the number one ruckman in at least 5 other AFL teams. He won't become the number one at Essendon while Ryder is there, so that's why teams are talking to him now like Pies and GWS.
The only thing that Gumby has over Daniher is more AFL experience - you couldn't even say Gumby has a stronger body as it keeps breaking down, and hes only managed a lowly 33 games in 7 years at the club. Daniher has shown far more in his 2 AFL games than Gumby has over his entire career.
Daniher - career games: 2 ave disposlas: 16, marks: 6.5, tackles: 1, goals: 1.5
Gumby - career games: 33 ave disposlas: 9.6, marks: 4.8, tackles: 1.5, goals: 1.3
Daniher is also 5 years younger and has far more upside than Gumby. He is 4cm taller and can play ruck - Gumby cant, and theres really no argument that danihers ahead, and theres no club for that would pick Gumby ahead of Daniher if given the chance.....
TBC on his own could probably get us the #1 pick. Sheeds wants a top 5 player at a club and he'd have to be close to that after booting a handful of goals.
