Here is a nice hypothetical for you to ponder.
Scenario 1:
We play through the rest of the season scraping together a few wins and at least being competitive in most games. We get a general even contribution of goals from our forwards with players like Riewoldt, Nahas, Collins, White and Morton (if he returns to form) who will kick 1-3 goals per game depending on who plays well. We also get some contribution from our midfield with players like Deledio and Newman pushing up the ground. Riewoldts purple patch was just that.
Scenario 2:
We play through the rest of the season scraping together a few wins and at least being competitive in most games (same results). Generally we are competitive and sometime victorious because Riewoldt is able to stand up and pull us through with bags of goals little contribution from other forwards. Riewoldt emerges as a premier player in competition but we are becoming increasingly reliant on him, Fevola-esque.
Interesting considering everyone would want a gun forward but we always here that over reliance is not good for a team as they become predictable and easy to stop.
