Now that we are a big show of finishing finishing top 4,with that it increases our chances of making the GF.

I don't want to commit to buying a flight and seats for the GF,so this means gunning east across the nullabor.
I've done it once before many moons ago, can't remember how long it took drive from Perth to Adelaide.

How long would you want to give yourself on driving over to Melbourne?

a friend of mine tried to drive from melbourne to perth by himself to sell his car after a week of partying and armed with about five grams of speed. he had to pull over suddenly halfway along the nullarbor, walked to the next petrol station and they called the flying doctors. moral of the story, drive with friends.

...Or bring 7 grams

I've done 2 trips to Bris, 1 to Melb and 1 to Sydney. The drive is easy enough. I usually leave at 3am to escape traffic and rive through to Border Town or Border Village in SA and have for 4 or 5 hours sleep. Next day drive through SA another 4 or 5 hours sleep then roll into Melbourne about lunch time, surprisingly easy money. The key is taking a thermos full of coffee and filling it up at the roadhouse motels before you leave. Also having a small esky with drinks and snacks so you don't waste time. Drive a car with either long range or duel tanks. I only stop if I need a pee and don't have a widemouth bottle in the car.:p

I actually work on a rig overseas, 4 weeks on and 4 weeks off and I am due to be on the rig from Sept 11th to Oct 9th, horrible timing. I will see the 1st final whether it's in Perth, Syd or Melb. Flights will be easy enough that week. The grand final though it will be impossible to get flights with 6 days notice though. I will be inventing a very sick relative who resides in Melbourne if we get in the big dance and will need immediate evacuation;) . A flight from Hong Kong to Melbourne will be easy at short notice.:D

Any finals in Melbourne we need to get as many Freo supporters over there as possible.
The crowd has a massive impact on umpires.
Except for when we are at home for some reason.
They hear the big loud boos and calls of ball or delibrate and pay them, then when the same situation occurs for the home team its silence and the umps just generally ball it up or throw it in.

Im sure they get directed at Freo home games to ignore the crowd and not get sucked in.
In Melbourne though the support is normally evenly split so they get sucked in by the crowd when its against an interstate team.
