I am surprised he is playing this week, I would've preferred Dallas Willsmore who is a similar size and better by foot.
I think the swans are the last team you'd want Willsmore to debut against. Particularly at the scg. Our next three games read: richmond, carlton and the dees. He'll get a run against one of those sides and will have enough time & space to make an impact

Was he playing on Rohan last night?? If so he needs to learn to create body contact in a marking contest so as to not allow his man a free run at an uncontested mark at the side of a pack.

If he wasn't then I apologise!!!

I liked his game last night besides the whole Rohan cheap marks ordeal. Definitely has
A future with the club

His hit on Buddy taking him out of a contest that was going to be an easy Swans goal was brilliant. He spoiled another easy Swans goal too.

Tackled like a demon. Ran hard.

One of the best 3 possession games ever.
I think like everyone else he needs continuity. When you are competing against the defenders that we have its almost impossible to break into the team. Young guys have been getting games on merit but more importantly exposure to senior football. Gus has been the 7th defender for a while, I think because he is a known quantity & his development was required at box hill because he simple could not force out birch, Strats, burgers, Gibson ect...
Doc became the preferred pick of the two, I believe, as his better defensive work in the air gave him the edge.
I did expect more disposals but I didn't expect him to be thrown around like he was to release other players.
If guys like Hill (not a good example this week as he was very good) & Hartung get a game because they can run then a guy like Gus should be given much the same respect for the variety of players he can play on to release others to the benefit of the team.
I dare say that if Howe was asked to play on the same guys that Gus was the result would have been different

He had an average game.

He did some great things (diving across Buddy like good old fashioned centre half to prevent a goal) but boy he can do some stupid shit as well (his little Grundy 2014 1m spoil into the corridor and walking across the line for a deliberate).

I don't think he has a footy brain at all. But he plays on instinct and heart and that can sometimes be good enough. Not sure where I sit on him.

But I feel his time might be coming up. I like him but can't see a future for him.

If he can cut the stupid shit out of his game then all might be well.

He does have a brain fade now & then but did you see Lewis eyeball Birch for doing a stupid handball back to him when he should have kicked it, or when doc got caught again holding the ball, BB hitting it to the opposition a lot.
Everyone does dumb stuff.

I completely understand that Gus is this years whipping boy this year.
I hope it turns out to be the same story as last years whipping boy come finals time.

If he holds his spot I think he will have a better role against the Tigers with more chance to run the ball out off defence & get more involved up the ground

What the hell?

Litherland was brilliant. So many tackles and spoils. Saved a couple of goals.

It doesnt matter that he didnt have a lot of possessions.

I wonder if we make any changes...
Not sure if he was brilliant but he did do some very nice things during the game. Wasn't our worst & played his role. Probably needs more senior experience to feel as though he belongs. Plenty to work with. Good luck Gus & make it happen.

Threw himself at the ball when Buddy (who is much bigger) was going for it too, and Buddy came off second best.

Was great to watch.

It's a weird one. I think Litherland is a better defender than Howe purely due to a few years of experience but I know who I want with ball in hand 5 minutes to go in a final.

And it's not Mr. Walk over the boundary line under zero pressure.
