I have heard enough and just about had a gut full of Collingwood.

I just dont want to think about how everyone just hates them. I just dont want to waste any more of my life from here on thinking about the c.r.a.p that they come up with.

The latest:

- On 6PR tonight they said that Mick and Eddie will move heaven and Earth for Juddy. For Christ Sake. I guarantee it that last seasons GF appearance will be seen in a few years time as a team playing above themselves. What the hell would motivate Juddy to leave the mighty Eagles for that lot. We have Woosha, the House of Pain and potentially the best midfield in the League. Sure we have to shore up key defensive posts but we are on track. What the heck could they possibly offer. A mid first round draft pick or a bunch of hacks. It would have to be a three way trade. First Draft Pick ALONG WITH someone like Coughlan, Corey, Hay or a young key position player. Or two first round draft picks

- On the issue of alternate Jumpers Eddie called the Interstate Teams a bunch of blow ins. I look forward to the penultimate weekend of the season when two non Victorian Teams playoff for a place in the GF. One game at the MCG (Adelaide v Brisbane where 20000 people turn up) and the Eagles v Dockers at Subi (Wives and children will have to nursed on Fathers/Husbands knees to fit in the 70000 people who would like tickets)

I have always respected the Eagles rivalry with Geelong, Essendon and the Dockers. They are some of the reasons why we love going to the Footy. But now Collingwood rate below the Bulldogs (Suma and Gardy incidents) and Carlton (Greg Williams Goal)

Thats it for me on the issue of Collingwood. If I think about them anymore I will just barf!

Go Eagles!

All well and good, but really, pointless speculation at best.

Item one- No Money.
There is absolutely no fricking way in hell Collingwood could afford Judd. They've just signed Woewodin the high priced, and are supposedly after Darcy as well. Its blindingly obvious that first and foremost, Collingwood *need* a ruckman, desperately- its the single reason they lose games atm.
I doubt they'd be such a fool to go for a midfielder before that desperately needed ruckman, even if it was a superstar like Judd
So Darcy *and* Judd? Thats probably about a 1.2 mill in player payments. Unless Buckley is on $2 500 000, his veteran listing isn't going to free up the available cap space. They just wouldn't have the money.

Item two- No Trade. When Chick and Headland decided to go home, Fremantle and us had an advantage, because it was a buyers' market- two players, two teams, do the math. Both teams had a pretty good idea what we were prepared to offer, and they weren't prepared to go beyond that. We were always going to get one or the other, so there really wasn't a huge bidding war.
If Judd did decide to head back east, there'd be a feeding frenzy. Look around the league, look at what people are saying now. EVERY victorian team would be overjoyed to have Judd on their list. Thats 10 teams going for one player- definitely a sellers market. If Judd did go east, he'd go to the team prepared to offer the best deal- given Headland went for a first round pick and a decent player, in the sellers market you'd expect Judd to be worth significantly more- a star and a first round pick? two first round picks? Both priority picks wouldn't be out of the question if a cellar dweller team wanted to be seen to be able to sign the big name, and get the boost in support and membership that Judd would engender. Unless the Pies start throwing games, they simply won't be able to put together a trade which will trump lower placed clubs- To even be in the running, they'd need to offer something in the league of an established, kpp, top 5 at the club player, *and* their best draft pick. So unless Collingwood were prepared to give up Tarrant and 1st round pick, No Judd for them!

Item Three- Still no evidence whatsoever that the Juddster wants to go east. As a matter of fact, if you look at the photo on the eagles website of the (west coast supporting) Sophie Monk, Chris Judd is *clearly* using his 190cm to look down her top. We may have found the high profile slapper to keep him at West Coast! Now I realise that Eddie is desperate to find a new lovechild for him to blow off now that Nafan is getting on in years, but come on, give Judd a bit of credit here- Sophie Monk, or Eddie McGuire?

Im trying to avoid talking about Judd and leaving in the same sentence so I will avoid this one as best as I can. But I must say that I hate Collingwood and I hope they never ever get their grubby little hands on the superstar. If he absolutely must leave (which NOBODY wants) then I really hope he goes to any other club in victoria.

Didn't Mick sign a release contract that stated he couldnt steal any of our players? or something similar?

Eddie is just a little man, don't worry about him.

Woewodin is having a large chunk of his salary still being paid by Melbourne - not sure if it extends into next season though.

I wouldn't stress over it too much - if it happens, theres not much we can do about it except wring as much out of a trade as possible. While I hope he stays, we have the potential to strengthen some weak spots in the side if he does go - its not like we lack midfield depth.

I think Collingwood are in a weak position to get his services, with no-one on their list I would consider desirable for a trade. Maybe Tarrant at a stretch, but they won't trade him. He'd be more likely to go to a team with an early pick like Bulldogs, Hawthorn or Geelong

If we hang tough, I'm pretty sure we should be able to get a regular 1st team player and a first round pick for a proven future champion like Judd, in which case I'd be interested in Jonathon Hay or Matthew Scarlett.

Speculation always makes for an interesting season :)

I'm pretty sure its only a small chunk. I'm sure Collingwood is still paying $350-400k of his contract.

Uhuh thats what I thought. If that is the case then theres no way they can afford Juddy!

On him going to Bulldogs, Hawthorn or Geelong, I dont reckon he would go to a club like that. He strikes me as the type of player that wants success. I dont think any of those clubs have a good future. If he goes back to Victoria he would sigh with Collingwood, Essendon or Richmond imo!

i'm prepared to put my faith in the club. Judd is a highly required player so the club will do almost anything to keep him. if he does go east i will be confident that he either wanted to go no matter what or he tried to screw the club over.

i hope he stays. he is a truly exciting player to watch run around in the eagles colours.

remember 1999 ?

Wasn't it about the same time in 1999 when we were sitting pretty in the 8 - that Fat Eddie started trying to entice Mick to Collingwood? Suddenly the media were full of talk that Mick would go - now we have the rumours that Fat Eddie is starting to talk to Juddy.
I would think that Juddy would have more class than to get involved in anything like that. If it is against AFL rules to talk to contracted players mid-season, then Fat Eddie should be hauled over the coals. He is NOT bigger than the game - although he seems to think differently.

Agreed. Can anyone tell us whether there is such a rule though?

Why is it only the really really good players that always have a lot of speculation over them being traded at the end of their contract?

I can't remember any of this speculation for Brauny, Jonesy or Haynesy.

I can't say I'm confident that he will stay, but I'd love to.

I don't think there is, McGuire or any other team wouldn't be speaking to Judd anyway, I'd take a guess and say they would be speaking directly with his manager.

I know. The other thing that ****es me off is that Judd came out and said that he didnt want to even think about it till after the season. His manager is obviousley conducting enquiries behind close doors. It really annoys me that all these hangers on are upsetting his season. FFS, he's 19 years old! He doesnt need all this bull****!

the thing that ****ed me off was his attitude last year when it looked as though collingwood would lose nick davis. it goes both ways ed.

Exactly. One of the most professional things about West Coast atm is that the coaching/admin staff just don't talk anything like the amount of crap that the Connollys, Malthouses, Sheedys or McGuires of this game do. The game needs more coaches like Worsfold, Roos and Laidley. Young, respected by their player groups, but keep their mouths shut and let their results speak for themselves.

You try and imagine Trev Nisbett or John Worsfold's attitude if Judd went home , and its infinitely clear that they would just shut the hell up and not throw the sort of sook Collingwood did about Davis. Frankly, if Judd did go, I hope we'd be big enough to be reasonable about it- imo, it'd be like, if he wants to go home, fair enough. Good luck to him, we'll make a deal so he can, and extract as much as possible in return. I can't imagine him becoming persona non grata around the club in a similar manner to Davis, though.

They will have to organize a good trade then, because he won't be available by the time they get a draft pick.

Yeah I know. I just cant see Judd wanting to play with any of those lower teams. He will want to sign with a team that is on the up and going to play in grandfinals.

That's a relief - I was a bit worried that Kasey Chambers was our best shot in that department.

What really made me want to puke during the Nick Davis saga was the hamfisted way that Eddie tried to force Davis' hand by giving him a public ultimatium, halfway through the season. This is the cuddly club that's after your arse, Chris. And they won't respect you in the morning.

todays dailys in Melbourne don't even carry that story. Think the Perth rumour mill is working overtime.

Anywho, Fraser was about the only eagle we have lost to homesickness.

Basically, if he wants to go, he might go, might not. Do you really want players at the club who don't want to be there?

But if he wants to stay, he will, we will come to an agreement and pay him the budget deficit. That's all there is to it.

Why worry about it?

Exactly what I think! We want him to stay but if he went I'm sure the team would keep playing good football! The Lions lost Headland and they're still playing fantastic footy. But don't worry Judd will stay. I don't think the big four Melbourne clubs can afford him next season and he won't go to any of the other clubs that can afford him even less. Eddie is probably playing mind games in an attempt to destabilize our team. He's having a go at the Lions because of the salary cap, at Port because of the jumpers and at us through Judd, perhaps because he's terrified with the idea that once again we may become an AFL force. He's having a go, exactly at the teams that are first, second and third on the ladder !
