I think all you Collingwood folk are getting your hopes up a little too much. I doubt he will go anywhere (fingers crossed) Besides with that 400,000 dollars...do you not plan to pay other youngsters who are improving?

you read the dicussion earlier on in the topic, collingwood doesn't respect there players, why the hell would they go out of there way to improve player contracts of upcoming youngsters. eddie would just pass them off as not good enough to warrant a pay increase as of yet because he is a power hungry tossa.

i certainly hope judd won't go, but if he definately wanted to go and we couldn't stop him, i wonder if the bulldogs could pay him enough, and we would get the first two picks of the draft??? (if the bulldogs win less than 5 games that is)

is there any emerging definate no.1 & no.2 picks come national draft day this year? (i know judd was taken at no.3, but surely we would ask for more that just one first round pick for him now he is a star, so i would reckon we would take picks one & two for compensation. not sure though if the dogs would be willing to give up the top picks though, its all just speculation.)

At this stage it would probably be between Moody [WA], Clarke [NT] and Cooney [SA] but all that could change by the end of the year. We could always try a direct swap with a player like Daniel Wells or Luke Hodge.

no, imo judd has turned out more handy than former no.1 pick luke hodge at the hawks, while i think daniel wells is very exciting and will service the roos greatly in the coming years but is not just quite in the calibre of judd for a direct swap (although it is only Wells first season after being plucked at no.2 and he could very well turn into a superstar. but he is more likely a sampi type player, so we don't need him)

If Judd is looking to move home, we will have the salary cap room to make a pitch for him. But our first priority will remain a ruckman - most likely Darcy being the target.

Re: Nick Davis, after grooming Judd for 4 years on your list, after he has said that he will be at your club next year "100% barring death or injury", sticking up for him patches of poor form, then seeing him walk out the door for a shocking trade deal because he forced your hand we'll see how you fools react. If you're willing to let Judd walk out the door, what a lovely person you are. But at Collingwood we actually prefer our good players stay at the club, and we'll fight to keep them. To suggest we made Nick leave because we were so desperate to keep him is typical idiotic anti-Collingwood rubbish. Nick made up his mind a long time before Eddie dared suggest he commit to his employer.

I wouldn't take us talking to Judd personally, but if you really want to get our attention (which every club seems to crave these days) maybe you too could suggest we change our guernsey that we have worn for 100+ years or go one better and start getting salary concessions from the AFL.

You may have salary cap room, but you have nothing worthwhile to trade.

Shouldn't you be waiting in line at Centrelink

We have several players who are better than Judd.

If you don't trade, there will be plenty of Victorian teams lining up with early picks in the pre-season draft and you will lose him for nothing (in the event he is desperate to go home).

PS Yes indeed, Centrelink will be indirectly funding Juddys wages next year just as they have been doing for Mick the past 3yrs.

Originally the media come out with the $80,000 figure, and Melbourne's boad stated it was 'significantly less than that', plus the fact it was a marketing part of the contract anyway, does that even count in the salary cap?

With Judd, I doubt Melbourne will trade hard to get him, money aside, because we just don't usually make big trades. The only way I can see us doinga big trade this year is for a CHF.

Several may be pushing it I think. Besides are you really going to be trading them (whoever they may be) for Judd?

No chance. We've got 10 teams to choose from - someone is going to come up with something worthwhile (young gun, near/top draft pick). What is of course if he decides to up and leave. And there is no guarantee of that ;)

... or playing games in Sydney rather than in Adelaide and Perth? ;) About your jumper I think the black and white colours aren't 100 years old. I read somewhere your guernsey used to be Red, Black and White. Now nobody is asking Collingwood to change their colours. You're asked to have an alternative jumper for one or two games a year when colours clash. Honestly I can't see where the problem is. There are lots of 100 years clubs of different codes all over the world with alternative guernseys.

:D

The only player better than Judd on Collingwoods list is Buckley and we would never trade Judd for Buckley because Bucks is nearing the end of career and Judd has just started his.

Arguably Tarrant would be worth more due to the position he plays in (assuming he keeps up his form).

But on pure talent, Judd sh*ts all over Tarrant. Judd is being used as an in-and-under player this year, and still averaging about 22 touches a game. Imagine him playing a loose receiving role, roaming the packs and using his explosive pace to run the ball forward.

Have to agree on Buckley, Tarrant and Licuria compared to Judd at the moment, but Judd has that word hanging over his head i hate to say; potential. Look what he's done to date, not even two years experience.

If you could compare them at similar times in their carreers then i think Judd is better than Licuria and Tarrant were and would come close to Bucks. Having said that Collingwood moved heaven and earth to get Buckley. Are they prepared to do it again!?!?

Find some more big busted blondes to stand under him!!

Yep, for sure.

But there is more to being a good footballer than just speccy plays and such... like accountability and defensive skills, courage, leadership, etc. Judd will be a great player but there are parts of his game he needs to work on and when he does, he could become one of the best players in this decade.

They may be a better (debatable apart from Bucks) but would we trade him for Buckley or Licuria? Of course not. Tarrant is a conundrum, he is a tall forward, Judd a midfielder, hard to compare.
