A) 34 points up in the 3rd quater
B) 15 points up 3/4's of the way through the last quater with the wind and the crowd.

Let me no.

Im sick of these Insipid Performances...

Owell, i can take heart from the performances of NA and Matty Egan

True, but the reason we lost is because we were ebaten by the better side on the day! But there lots of positives in the game. Im sick of people looking at the negatives when we lose! Hey im not some "look positive towards life and inner peace" tosser but we had some great performers 2day!

Injuries didnt help in the last qtr, the players were tired

That was a terrible loss that might stop you from playing finals.

You can look for positives all you want, but results like today's could derail your entire season.

True mate, but i think our season went off course a few weeks back..... but this lose did not help at all. Even if we do make it now, we will now have to play the eagles in the prelim f we make it because i highly doubt we will finish 5th

Couldn't agree more Rizzo.

Pathetic, insipid performance.
I feel utterly embarassed and let down by this club.

You do not lose from 15 points up in the last quarter kicking with the wind.

ah positives......thats a good one.....Melbourne can be positive from our performance ....we were able to run Russell Robinson in to career best form.
As for people always looking at the negatives of Geelongs performances what else there to look at.
Remember you cant polish a Terd.

Oh maybe there is one positive I overlooked....maybe, just maybe Thompson will get the flick.....or am I being too positive?

Yeah, because with all the cattle he's got to choose from we should be at the top of the ladder, damn that Thompson!

How we could let Melbourne back in considering the importance of the game and playing at home just really astounds me. Their has got to be some sort of attitude problem down there at the moment cause losing that sort of game and pretty much letting the opposition take it is something i thought we were past.

The reason we ran Robertson into form is they played Jarad Rooke on him, and in a brilliant tactical decision left him there all day - just to make he won the game for them. Funny how in the last 10 minutes they finally put Scarlett on him (after he destoyed Neitz again) and he didn't get any more. Amazing.

And I agree, this loss wasn't what cost us a serious finals tilt, it was the Fremantle game. And Collingwood. And Brisbane. And Footscray. And Essendon. Et cetera.

Pathetic.

Please don't use the term '*******' in the pejorative form boys. Is quite offensive and those who own the site don't want the term used in that form. - Phat

Honestly, I tihnk you guys lost it mentally in the third.

Daniher actually had a single moment of gutsy coaching when he put Read, miller and Godfrey into our forward line for no other reason than to try and rough up Mooney and get him to blow a fuse again. And it worked.

I'm not foolish enough to suggest we're a tougher team than you guys, but I do think perhaps your team has lost any sense of 'one for all all for one' type agression. Miller and Read are tough customers, no doubt, but it was the way you let them really get under your skin, not to mention Moloney dishing out punishment to anyone who wanted it through the middle. couple that with Whelan putting his body on the line and Meloburne just seemed to really want the game more.

If you are such a great football mind, how come you are not on the coaching panel? Or, it seems by the way you speak, you could have done a better job on Robertson yourself. Maybe you should call the club so we can get you on the rookie list next year. Your such a hero. You could have easily held Robbo to less than 3 goals.

I think the coaching panel and players would be far more aware of the situation at hand than an arm chair supoorter like yourself. I am also an armchair supporter but i dont go around acting like i know what is better for the club than than the people directly involved.

If you recall an interview with Russel Robertson early in the year, he listed Rooke as one of his toughest oppenents. Clearly Rooke has had the better of Robertson for the past few years, hence the reason he was playing on Robertson, but you would know this being such a wonderful football brain.

Rooke has been wonderful for the club this year. I did not hear you complaining about his performances when he kept the best forward in the competition this year relatively quiet in Matthew Pavlich.

I am in no way proud of the way Geelong played as a football club on Saturday afternoon, but pointing the blame in the direction of Rooke is a joke. He has played all but 1 game and has been one of our most consistent performers all year. There are many other players that have not shown the pride in the jumper that Rooke shows, atleast with Rooke you know that he will give 110% every minute or every game he is involved in, which is alot more than i can say for other players.

Totally agree with this sentiment. Rooke has been a rock this season. The problem on Saturday was that Robertson was beating him and Thompson refused to make the change, once again showing himself to be incapable of reacting when things aren't working.

Rooke is our third or forth best defender. Logic would say that you'd put your best defender onto a forward who is cracking a game wide open. That was not the case and had nothing to do with Rooke.

not a clever call Partridge....again!! I blame players like Byrnes who missed a more then gettable shot on goal and Tenace who each week trys harder but his football brain rivals the size of his pea heart!

I am in total agreement in Tusk and catempire, the problem was not Rooke but Thompson's inability to make a decision from the coaches box. He was getting beaten soundly by Robertson so logic dictates you make changes. You don't sit back and say 'Wow Robertson has kicked 7 goals for the first time in his career. Maybe we should make a change'. You act before the damage can be done.

Totally agree... i was in the outer and the bloody crowd was calling out for it. And Egan.. next time you have a shot from 50-55 out, could you please maybe go a bit closer in to the man on the mark??? That ball may have gone thru if he did!!

It's not Egan's fault.......we shouldn't be relying on a defender who's played 10 games and hasn't kicked a goal in his career to kick the winnin goal!

It was a pretty good effort from 55m when your legs are stuffed from playing a game of AFL! It didn't miss by much
