... oh well, at least it wasn't by 124 points. Thought we did very well to come back 31 points down and almost snatch it, but I did have a lingering doubt in my mind. Just can't seem to win the close ones anymore.

I think we'll beat Essendon next week providing we match our intensity as we did against the Roos. Kouta might come back next too. Very proud supporter, very proud. Gutted, but proud.

GO BLUES!

PS. How was DeLuca? Wow.

Deluca was sensational!

Scotland was Awesome!

Fevola is on the verge of becoming a superstar!

Not good enough, but may i say that the days of calling Carlton the easy beats i would say are OVER!!!!!!

Would people still tip us for the Spoon?

Thrawn, my condolences mate. Carlton out played us at our own game (hard ball gets, playing for eachother etc) for most of the second half, and it was very controversial the way it finished. Was super impressed by DeLuca and Kenna, and Fevola is an absolute gun.

Again, hard luck and there are a lot of positives for Carlton fans to take out, too.

You looked to have uncovered a few good quality young kids.

Plenty of positives to take from that performance for the Blues, I was never really confident of the win and knew we would really have to earn it.

Carlton are on the improve no doubt, treat this as a blip and look forward to a continual improvement from your squad.

Just on that I think if you show the same intensity at the ball throughout the season the wooden spoon will be a long way off. The challenge for a developing side is maintaining that intensity, and I expect that is where Carlton may be found out.

Great game to watch.

Wonderful to see two highly committed teams going hard. Really do admire the way both teams go about it.

BTW Denis Pagan is a genius.

yeh that's the problem, Carlton have some great players, but really not enough. Those 4-5 guys can't carry the team through every week.

Great game by fevola and scotland again
deluca did play well along with lappin and houlighan (or however u spell it). Some other good games but simply not enough, and a couple of bad misses at crucial times, dissappointing but i was happy to get the tip right :p

bad luck fellas

Well done Carlton. Fevola has consistantly killed us. We've had no answer to stopping him the last 3 times we've played.

Stevens and Scotland really boost the midfield for you. De Luca is well known at North, as he was with Port Melbourne (our VFL side) last season. In our club forum we were pushing for North to draft both him and Aaron Davey... both are very lively.

De Luca didn't seem to have an opponent on him at times today. And that little bloke (don't know his name) reminded me of Libba - big tackles, very gutsy.

Carlton should never have become easy beats. They just had problems getting their best players on the park. You guys have recruited some good players there such as Stevens and Scotland. Campo had a shocker but most other Carlton players had alot of the ball.

Teague looks good, never should have traded him. :p

With Norman and Kouta back in the team I think Carlton will win alot of games. Alot of the disposals in the first half were pretty ordinary and indirect but in if you play like you did in the second half then Carlton will win alot of games.

His name is Kenna, and he's yet another example of good young talent to be found in the VFL.

Fevola is a star - his kicking is almost imcomparable. Lloyd is probably more accurate, but he can't maintain it over as long a distance as Fevola can. With Stevens and Scotland in the mdifled, 80-90 goals shouldn't be out of reach.

Collingwood will regret not giving Scotland much of a go, he is a quality footballer.

I hate Carlton, but I genuinely felt for that playing group.

They wanted it more today IMHO. Harder at the contest, worked harder and were coached very well. At no point could we shake them.

North were playing cocky, showy footballer and were rubbish in the 2nd half. Most disapointing was our senior players either going missing or stuffing around with their form.

Carlton are still just a working footy side, but they could shake the finals this year.

I'm just glad that given the shady characters I was sitting near today that I escaped without becoming yet another stat in the gangland wars.

However, I'm now putting out a hit on David Clarke. Anyone else want to chip in?

Daniel Harris's last 5-8 minutes helped get the Roo's over the line. He just did all the 1%ers that kept pushing the ball forward. Mighty effort from the young lad.

Isn't it amazing. Angwin at 21 yrs, 200cm and supposedly our great white hope, falls over and self destructs. We all shed a tear at Optus.

Adrian 'Archie' DeLuca at 21 yrs, 202cm steps up to bat and at 5.00pm everyone is saying 'Laurie Who'.

One door slams and another opens. Well done Archie. You've put in a brilliant pre-season and you have reaped some reward for your efforts.

Now all we need is for French to grow 'Something' to fill his 'nutsack' and we might be competative each week. Fairdinkum he's 200cm and 103 kg and he plays like a 3 stone weakling that's afraid of his shadow.

Well said. Agree with all that was brought up

Want to swap him for Porter? Seems we are intent on swapping the big guys around who can't ruck.

Porter has been doing his job this year. Although you seem intent on getting rid, I think he is an important stopgap while we are waiting for our kids to develop.

Drop Hulme and do NOT play Whitnall at CHB! We looked at our most dangerous when he was playing up forward, keep him there Pagan.

Yeah, I couldn't figure that one out. Fevola, Whitnall, and DeLuca up forward will give plenty of teams nightmares. If Campo and Nick Stevens can both have very good games, they and your forward line will rip apart any defences who aren't switched on.

The Carlton midfield were excellent. They shut our midfield down in the second half and totally disrupted any semblance of a game plan.

Hulme played pretty poor today, but no way should he be first to be dropped.

David Clarke for Norman and/or McCormick this week at the selection table.
